Yeah I've paid for and watched the other one.
I didn't get why there was a buy/rent option on the one you posted when it seemed to play without me paying.

Great two part BBC4 documentary about the origins of minimalist music. Originally aired last year but must have had a recent repeat and so available for a couple more weeks. Features interviews with a lot of the big names.

Was the sharpest intake of breath/couple of beats of silence from the audience after Fry's delivery. You used to get the regular 'Can he say that?' silent audience pause after Humphrey Littleton had carefully enunciated a blatant double entendre,
but,
last night was a real 'He just said 'that' on BBC Radio 4?' moment. -

Huh, Pokemon Go was an experiment by Google originally funded by the CIA. Well, FFS.
Cambridge Analytica also used methods from propoganda used by I think the UK, can dig out the link. Mainland EU wasn't keen to use it, as they knew it can backfire badly.

Put on a couple of my all time favourites this evening.
Too many documentaries these days are unbelievably shallow and cheap. Both of these tell deep, human stories and are properly researched and have a developing narrative and a thoughtful soundtrack that give them atmosphere. Will have to think of a few other favourites to share. One that immediately springs to mind is Dreams of a Life.

Don’t think this is streaming online anywhere. Tried the Neil deGrasse Tyson one but it’s not the same.

‘the coming war on china’ - available on youtube-is a topical and excellent in-depth documentary by an acclaimed journalist.
my favourite ever doc is ‘los sures’ the life of a brooklyn street, i always make students watch it; barbara kopple’s ‘harlan county USA’ is amazing. ‘For Sama’, was extraordinary, and brutal; what have we done to this world?! -

Someone linked to that and a few others in the series in another thread about a year ago. They are worth a watch, some of the crack addict videos (there are quite a few) are fascinating.

Watched this on Netflix last night. Good if you’re into that sort of thing:
https://www.blackholefilm.com/
It covers the efforts to capture the first visual image of a blackhole, intertwined with with researchers tackling this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole_information_paradox
The documentary I shared with the youtube link is free. The other one you linked to I think is on Netflix.
