  • 'All time low' figures over an 8 month period?

We can rule out seasonal weather then ;)

(I don't think the cable car is necessarily a good investment, or that the funding was well managed at all.. But I do think asking us to consider it dead in the water because of a quiet winter is a bit much.)

  • If it dead in the water due to a quiet winter, what's to stop it from happening again next winter?

  • What I am saying is that it follows that less people will use a cable car in the winter, because its cold, and the car is open less due to weather.

This doesn't mean it isn't viable (or possible to be made so). Just seasonal.

  • Its only real use if for getting to the Excel centre. If there's nothing on, there's no need to use it and even if there is, DLR is cheaper. Views are comparable too.

  • I've taken the kids (9 and 5) on the cable car twice. they love it . Both times there has been hardly anyone else on it. I think it costs around £15 return . I have a tfl staff pass and get a small discount.

The boy aged 9 now wants to do that walk over the dome thing.

I use it as an excuse to get over that way and then make them go to decthlon with me .

  • The cable car goes from nowhere in particular to nowhere in particular.

It's estimated that only around 16 people regularly use it to commute.
It is an abject waste of money, and little more than a vanity pork project.

While it might be fun, it's not £60,000,000 of fun.

  • What would be £60 million worth of fun?

    This perhaps:

  • Rode out to this today with gf. Was pretty pointless by both accounts. Still going as a cyclist means you get your own cabin, and it was plenty pretty.
also trebled her longest ride with just over 35mile in total- happy days!

  • The inevitable dismantling of this stupid nonsense doesn't seem far away with ridiculous proposals like this:

  • Have they extended the hours again? It would be really useful as a way of getting to the O2 if it stayed open later as you could use the car parks at the excel centre.

  • I would think they need to extend their opening hours if they want to provide an useful alternative to the 24hr Jubilee Line, otherwise parking folk leaving O2 late will park at Stratford or nearer and tube-in.
