oh i see i can't just turn up and ramp around the track on a classic triumph ! shame !
i'll have a look into this
my old legs just aren't strong enough to power myself round the track these days
a 1000cc motor is what i need
do they ever use these at the smaller indoor velodromes or are they more for the bigger outdoor arenas ? -

Well Dicki the Triumphs are only 650cc, but they are surprisingly tough on the legs, paticularly in the bankings, as you are standing up riding them.
The big motors are used indoors, notably at Alkmaar in Holland, Berlin and Dortmund in Germany. Unfortunately none of the indoor tracks in Britain are strong enough to take the weight of the bike, let alone 8 of them thundering around.
No sarcasm Dicki. It really is difficult to find track availability to ride the stayer bikes, but not impossible. If you want to pace on the big motors, you would be welcome to train for your category A pacing licence. You would need to contact the BPA for this.
