No need to go all vigilante on his parents - they've done nothing wrong (except raise a moron). It'd be pretty frightening to receive a bunch of letters from strangers demanding cash. One letter explaining the situation in a non-threatening way would do the job I expect

Certainly no intention of anything vigilante here. Just a desire to resolve in a positive manner for the OP. I'm certainly not going to be turning up on the doorstep unless invited to collect the frame. One non confrontational well crafted letter would be a proportionate response I should think.
