Two weeks? That's taking the piss!
Make a "goods not received" claim NOW: the prospect of losing money, tends to concentrate the mind; and if it doesn't, I think he's had your money quite long enough.
It's a fucking cheek, advertising something for sale (and accepting payment) when you can't complete the deal.
It's not as if it was "collection only" and you twisted his arm: it was sold as posted from the start.

Cheers Howard! Thanks for the info.
And yeah Scilly Suffolk, tell me about it!

Hey hey,
Just wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice on this one...
I purchased a complete bike through the forum, paid the guy through Paypal almost two weeks ago, and still HAVE NO BIKE! He hasn't even got a box sorted to send it in as yet!
I have said that I will raise a dispute through Paypal if he hasn't sent it by Monday but is there anything else I can do?
Name and shame.

Name and shame.
Seems this has happened.

He hasn't even got a box yet either. Some people really are useless!
I bet he's already spent the money....

Thanks everyone,
Its good to know that I'm not being too hard on the guy!
Hope he finds a box by Monday.

I don't know the seller, but he posts a fair amount and never struck me as a scammer. I'd hope that, as above, the seller has just been a bit disorganised. Posting a whole bike - well - is a right sod.
Not making excuses for them, just that I hope and suspect it's nothing sinister. Hope they meet whatever commitment they've made to get it boxed up on Monday.

Paypal protection is not just against scammers - It's also against those that are disorganised. No sinister intent is required for people to be left out of pocket.

It's not like he's gone quite on the forum according to his profile. He's on as we speak.
Is there still a conversation between you and him Jenny?

Yes - this is true.
If the seller made a commitment to have it boxed and posted in two weeks, and has not made an attempt to commit to an agreeable alternative date then by all means go ahead and push the nuclear button.
If no date for posting and delivery was agreed on before the money was transferred then it comes down to what either party believe is reasonable. In this case the seller might think two-three weeks is reasonable. As a seller, I'd then be pissed if someone then hit the nuclear option without coming to me first and trying to negotiate a reasonable delivery date.
The next step in this is to get a firm commitment for a date of postage / delivery. If no date can be agreed on, or if the date is outside the bounds of PP buyer protection then ask for a refund. If no refund is forthcoming then hit the nuclear option.

I have no doubt in my mind that he is a genuine guy and has just had a bit of difficulty finding a box. We are still in contact, which is reassuring.
I think that's a good plan Howard.
I don't want to act like a dick but I also want my bike.
Cheers for all the input.

Agreed, other than the idea that raising a Paypal dispute is the nuclear option - All this does is set a process in motion that can be easily halted, with no negative impact on either party, once delivery is made. -

Opening a claim doesn't irrevocably mean she's going for a refund though - it's just saying look it's 2 weeks now where's my shit cos you got my dorra.
One easy resolution to said claim would be to transfer said shit to said buyer. No extra costs etc, just making clear you won't settle for people having half a grand of your cash and being "shambolic" on it.
That said we don't know what negotiations have occured. You're right, if a reasonable date for delivery can be agreed upon now, e.g. in the next week or less, then fair enough.
What a pain.

wait what?!
Yeah, their website said so. 18/20/24 hole Mono RS hubs can now be laced radially though. It was a problem with the Hope Pro line of hubs.

Hope >>>>>>>> Chris King<<<<<<<<<<< ironically I'm rocking hope hubs at the moment but they have 32, sensible holes :-)

You know who else had world champ status? Lynchman...

It wasn't really a problem was it, they were never designed to be radially laced.
The only Pro hubs that were are the ones they made for HED which is what I've got, which have the spoke holes in a custom location.
This is why I have a radially laced Pro III which isn't going to explode.
Hopefully.

I'll leave it at that
Paypal say:
So there's time left to make a claim. But definitely worth being aware of the time limit.
