Bought some hubs off Freddie22 a week ago today, no sign of them and no sign of him since.
Surely not for £21?
Anybody dealt with him?

Never send payment as a gift unless you know/fully trust that person.
-
• #1810
why? you can reverse a gift payment more easily than a trade payment can you not?
-
• #1811
When you send something as a gift if something goes wrong then it's all down to you, paypal does nothing. Standard payment (which includes the fee) means that you have something to fall back on.
-
• #1812
I still pay the fee though when I pay as a gift? What was all that hoorah with xrawx* then when he was reversing his gift payments after receiving goods?
*it was xrawx i believe, but I know there are 2 members with similar names so I may be wrong
-
• #1813
When you send something as a gift there should be no fee. That's the reason why people ask for an item to be payed as a gift. The person who sens the money doesn't get given a fee to pay. The person will send £50 then a percentage of that will be removed so the receiver will only get £49.50 or whatever.
-
• #1814
yes, but when I send a gift payment, I have to pay the fee...

• #1815
Under the personal tab, gift. The confirmation should look like this
Description Amount Change action

jazythumper briefly disappeared off the radar a while back owing to family problems and someone had a similar complaint about him. As far as I remember, this was resolved and he was not considered a bad trader as a result, but I think the relevant thread may have been deleted because of that. I should expect him to come up with the goods after a delay. Others may know more.

yes, but when I send a gift payment, I have to pay the fee...
Same here, but I was under the impression that you get charged if your are drawing funds from a card/account other than PP. If you have funds in PP already (which someone down the line will have been charged for) then the "gift" transaction doesn't incur a fee, no?
They have it sewn up, seems like they make money out of every transaction one way or another.
AFAIA you have little/no support from PP if things go tits up after "gifting" funds

Activesport a.k.a. Mark Anthony are a total crock of shit. Do not use.
I'm still waiting after 4 weeks for a small order. To get my order even somewhere near dispatch I've had to ring them up multiple times for a good badgering and other members have had to far worse experiences. Please read these comments below before you consider using them:
don't use activesport (not listed), they fucked me around for 2-3weeks on a pair of rims
WARNING: Avoid Mark Anthony Cycles: I had to raise a Paypal dispute to get a light £30 rear I bought on Fleabay, then they accused me of theft. They appear to have no customer service skills at all. If all goes well then fine, if there is a problem they basically say "f**k you".
I had so much trouble with activesport. Worst company I have ever dealt with.
I bought a Raleigh Burner Boxfresh BMX from them and sent it back as it really wasn't my thing. When it arrived they claimed it was damaged and wouldn't refund me. I was shocked as I knew I had packaged it well. They also wouldn't send it back until the had decided what to do with it and consulted the owner.
Subsequently they started selling a Boxfresh Burner on ebay again which, I knew had to be mine. I decided the only way of getting my money back was to visit them in Buxton Derbyshire, and assess the damage. I had read a lot of bad reviews about them following my transaction so was wary of what I was getting myself into.
When I arrived I pretended to be a prospective purchaser of the BMX on ebay and asked to see it. It was at their warehouse 5 minutes away so I made the short trip to confirm if it really was my bike. The manager pulled the box out and there was my bike, exactly as I had sent it back. He completely denied any wrong doing and questioned why I had come all the way to get my money back. For me it was a small amount of effort to see over £250 again. Fucking cunts.
Wish I'd read this before I placed my order nearly a month ago.
Ordered a pair of long-reach brakes and new cables. Soon got an email with a link, and a few days later the link said "shipped". It didn't arrive for a few days so I emailed them saying (very politely) 'it's 'shipped' but it hasn't arrived yet' and I got an email back saying (verbatim) "yeah you have been emailed this Thanks". Emailed back saying no I haven't, and I didn't get a response.
Emailed them again a few days later and they said "yeah you have a delivery tomorrow", didn't come... emailed them, no response... emailed a few days later saying 'Hi, if you haven't already sent it, please don't send it because I'm cancelling my order under Distance Selling Regulations' and opened a Paypal dispute.
Then a few days later I got an email from Paypal saying that it was posted (after I sent them the email cancelling the order) and with a tracking number - over two weeks after my initial order. This was over a week ago and it hasn't arrived yet, and because the bastards ignored me cancelling the order and posted it anyway, I have to pay the return postage to get it back to them. I've emailed them since and they haven't responded.
EDIT - Don't want to bump this old thread up - OJAW that's the same as in the UK, but I'm not in the house in the daytime and somebody else signed for it when it was eventually delivered (yesterday). I posted it immediately and got a refund today, minus the £5 it cost me to return it (which I should've invoiced them for, but I forgot and since the law doesn't mandate this, I don't think there's much chance of receiving it). Took a month, could've been worse, but still annoying and I'm not buying from them again. -

user: 'ROOKIEXL'
Very bad trader
He was selling his de rosa frame for 350 euro shipped
I messaged him to ask if it was still available
He said yes it was but he wanted 450 shipped
I said wait a minute It is 350 shipped in the thread.
I went to the thread, he deleted his posts and closed it.
I messaged him back to ask why he'd done this, and i thought that it was rather sly
He then said 'sorry it's sold"
Really poor form, I would avoid trading with this guy!

Re: de rosaYep, closed the thread as it's sold as I've told you. You're free to do whatever you want to. Forum Gestapo :)
Buyers Beware!
Shouldnt take a genius to work this one out. Who in their right mind would trade/deal with someone who's ended up having to disable their reputation cat.? or with someone who expects someone to pay MORE when it would be the earlier payee doing the seller a favour.
What a dick -

I have Neg Rep despite never having a single problem trading (selling or buying) and certainly never having any complaints. In that respect I do find it a little irritating.
