  • What have I done? Or not done?

The truth has out, I apologise and I suspect a number of others will do likewise.

    Post above deleted.

  • ^^Nothing as far as I can tell. It looks like Skylark is still being given a pasting.

From what I can see you've done something perfectly acceptable. But others have taken offence as they still see the forum classifieds as a close knit community of friends

  • can't make my mind up what I think. Shame though that the bike went to someone that just wants to sell it again, profit or not, rather than someone that will love it and ride it

  • One thing I know for sure, the buyer can do whatever he want with it, it's his bicycle after all.

But, to sell straight away after purchasing it and make a cool £400 profit, is way too sketchy.

  • Make your mind up Ed; either they can do what they like with their property or not. How long should they have waited? And what sort of a mark up would be acceptable?
And remember, Dammit is still warning people about Skylark but he tried to sell on the wheels he had bought at a mark up and nobody said much about that.

  • But is it actually making a profit or is it actually selling for what it's worth. Hearing about it's history makes it worth something. Perhaps Hilary believed it to be under valued and set the price at what he believed it's worth. Leaving time inbetween the sale might have got the monsters off his back but it wouldn't make a difference would it.

  • Hilary not to blame it seems. Apologies

    Stand by this....
Perhaps it just a case of making it clear its being bought to sell on. I have done this a few times and I always say its going to the project and not for personal use- it just seems like the right thing to do considering the core value of this community a shared love of bicycles.

Ofcourse Hilary loves bicycles more than most of us put together.

  • This deal aside, I am pretty sure we all know hilary as a fine person who has passion for bikes. Think about the nice deals that many had got in the past from him and also for the fact that he is the Tesco of bikes. He travels the country and even cross the pond IIRC to get his stock which comes out of his pocket. Is he to turn a blind eye to a bargain while many of us had benefited from him in the past? Reeks of double standard here. The man needs to make a living and if you have ever been in a proper buying-selling business, you will know that margin fluctuates, dead stock just sits collecting dust and you practically live deal to deal. He's no jonnyrau, that I can attest to, he contributes to this forum and have benefited many of us and I believe will continue to to so. Just google him up, when he ceased trading on fleBay, bloody Americans were asking where he went!

  • Has anyone had dealings with the caped crusader?

  • Communication isn't brilliant. You have to shine a searchlight onto clouds at night if you want to speak with him.

  • Ha! Thanks for the heads up.

  • has anyone actually had dealings with him though? or have you got issues Digger?

  • This is just ridiculous.
    i'm the guy from ebay.
so you just told swagmaster that you had some serious probplems at home? but you are still able to post some photos at your flickr account? you told him that you forget about the ebay auction? you answered me, as i asked about the shipping cost and you send both of us the same 'mimimi school trouble story'.
    this is what happend:
you just waited to see what brings more money, lfgss or ebay...as i paid 170 € for the bike (+30€ shipping) and swagmaster paid more 300 you became greedy and just stopped answering us until ebay and paypal fixed it and got my money back...

you are just a greedy liar.

    Yeah, straight bullshit here.

Haven't got the bike and not the tracking that I was 'supposed' to get.

  • Metronum - raised the price on a wheel after i had dibs'd it PMing me with "Dude,
All good, raised price tho, hight demand plus reconsidered the fact that the wheel was brand new unsused."
    Thread here - https://www.lfgss.com/thread69658.html

  • I don't think that's just bad forum etiquette, that is just bad business practice altogether. That's a dishonourable move.

  • Price increase before anyone had 'dibsed' it fair enough. But to change afterwards it a piss take. Buy the wheels but only give him the original price.

  • Not worth it now. He could have sold that wheel to me for almost new price inspite of stickers being removed, no warrenties, and such.

By highlighting the price now that he has been as ass hat, i see that to have bought it at the original price wouldve been a waste.

  • It's wank, but what can you do? It's not a shop.

Talking about shops - All Terrain Cycles (http://www.allterraincycles.co.uk/).
What a fucking wank of a shop!
If you sell the wheel as new and charging me the full price, send me a brand new unwrapped wheel, not one taken from a display, all dusty and scratched up and chucked in some fucking random box. You cunts!
Charlie The Bikemonger sold me the other one and his was still in bubble wrap with axle protectors in a dedicated wheel box with logos which matched the manufacturer of the wheel, not some huge Giant box gaffa taped together.
You're shit. I will never buy anything from you. Stay away, guys.

  • Yes, but Charlie cares about what people think. He used to work in marketing before he opened his shop so has plenty of knowledge in that area

  • And it shows.

  • Yeah Charlie is awesome. I love a place that looks after there customers. Makes you want to go back.

  • I've had nothing but good experiences with all terrain cycles.

  • Charlie don't surf.

He does though. Didn't get any pictures of it before he went off, it's a nice board

  • Charlie don't surf.
