Just thought I'd add my own info to the short people thread. I'm 5'3 (nearly 5'4) and ride a frame with a 50cm ctc top and seat tube, and 700c wheels. I get some toe overlap which is annoying sometimes but like smaryka I'm used to it.
I thought I wouldn't be able to fit a 50cm frame but I can stand flatfooted over it fine...however my best friend is exactly the same height as me and has to stand on tiptoes, so it depends on the length of your legs I guess!

Scoot, you'd fit the missus' bike better (48.5cm ST 54TT) as she's the same height as you.
Toe overlap occur because of the short top tube which bring the wheel closer to the pedal - it's inevitable really.
Try and removed the outer chainring though, you might find it annoying when your trouser get ripped against the teeths, or god forbid your skin...
(nearest bike shop to CSM is BikeFix on Lamb Conduit Street, go to them).

Thanks ed! I'm going to get a brand new chainring next month when my loan comes through actually, that one is from my mums geared bike and is pretty old...but I haven't ripped my trousers or skin on it yet thankfully!
I'll definitely check out BikeFix though, I didn't know there was a nice bike shop near CSM, I thought we only had cycle surgery.

You also have Condor Cycles nearby too, about a couple minutes ride from CSM (on the north of Gray's Inn Road/Theobald).
BikeFix was my local bike shop, Condor was my* "let look at shiny expensive thing" *local bike shop.

Anyone know of any bike shops or online stores in the UK that stock the IRO Mark V HD? Irocycle.com do ship internationally but they appear to be out of stock at the moment. Tokyo Fixed Gear only have the Mark V standard on their website too.

Update:
I had an email from the UK stockists and they don't yet have the CX bike. May get it later in the year for the 2012 season. I'll check with them just before my C2W scheme kicks in.

flick - cavendish might be able to order you one in as they sell a lot of IRO's - i requested one but ended up getting a fuji track
-
• #85
ruthy - yeah, I emailed them back in May but they said they weren't planning on importing them anymore. Not to worry though, managed to pick one up second hand off here soon after. :)

great stuff :) what's it like to ride? i have a fixed fuji track and just invested in a geared racer from here, 650c 45cm with 52cm top tube and 531 reynolds tubing so will be light, hopefully will fit, excited to get it!

I am now the proud owner of a Fuji track bike (kids version). LBS has sorted it out and I'll be scooting around on it this evening after work. Plasters at the ready :-) Yay!

A fixed number cw?
Woo! To New Bike Joy! jealz
Whilst I'd like to yes it is fixed, I'd be lying. It's singlespeed as I don't have the time needed to adjust to fixed riding at the minute. It's now on my (small) list of cycling aims for 2012 :-).
Had to change the pedals, seat and seatpost and flipped the stem - Steve at the bike shop did it whilst I drank coffee and chatted away. I've put a computer on it and am, as yet, undecided as to whether I should keep the drops or replace with a flat bar.
Tomorrow I'm off to Hackney so that will be the first major ride/test of my legs with this type of bike gulp.
I'll put up a pic or two once I've transferred from phone to laptop - this could take some time :-).

Are you still looking at getting an Isla too?
-
• #92
At the moment that desire will have to wait as my next project is to get the frame I've had for the last year built up. That will be geared flat bar, so it may well cancel out the Isla, but we will see.

Pics of bike. I've widened the brake levers as I felt uncomfortable in their original position.
A twenty mile ride yesterday. The legs certainly had a workout.

Nice! LIke the shape of it and the yellow is brilliant. Obviously though it's missing tassles... ;p
Were you happy with the drops in the end?
-
• #95
I measured the drops and they are the same width as that on my road bike, so I'll keep it. I will investigate getting hoods(?) put on at some stage, but I'll persevere with the current levers now that I've put more space between them.
No tassles, but I've got my spokey dokes which just need cleaning before I put them on. Stylish or wot? LOL

Get some hood, worth going for.
You can keep the crosstop levers and have hood, they're designed to be ran with a brake hood.

Nice bike cafewanda! Looks like similar geometry to one of the original Langsters, which personally I much prefer - I find head down, bum up a bit uncomfortable!
I know you probably stated it elsewhere, but I've missed it - what bike is it?
Loving the yellow!

Fuji Track 650/kids.
great bargain for those who want a decent little fixed wheel bicycle for not a lots of money.

Have swopped the drops for a flatbar, which I will get trimmed an inch either side at my local lbs tomorrow (criminal element permitting). Will ask them to swop the 15t for the 17t freewheel I bought today, as my knees don't like the effort involved getting out of the starting blocks although I take great satisfaction passing roadies I wouldn't normally dream of passing - lol
Getting more comfortable with the bike. I like 'tweaking' and having adjusted the saddle again, no doubt I'll repeat it once I've ridden to work in the morning.

Reading back through my posts on the beloved Fuji, I thought I'd add an update. I put the drops back on, removed the cross levers and am using Tektro short-reach levers, put the Fuji saddle back on. Added one spacer to the stem and am seriously thinking of getting a more upright stem. Gearing is now 46/20.
Islabike's Luath small remains on my N+1 list, hopefully to acquire by the end of this year after I've upgraded bits on the roadie and 'the frame'.
Holding it's number one spot :-)
ETA: Smaryka, I took a look at your blog and whilst most of the bike sizing/geometry info went over my head (I'll up my learning slowly) I instinctively 'went' for the smaller of the two bikes mainly because of the wheel size, but the frame is lovely too :-).
