Forum gold.... for me anyway.... that pic confirmed that the car that tried to firstly front end me and then drive after, with driver jumping out... wanting a fight was AL. Bless him as he faced up, I saw him swallow...lol... then he backed down.. funny that... Now being reported!

Addison Lee are some of the worst drivers in London. Minicab drivers are pretty bad too in general. I think the problem is they don't know the roads like black cab drivers (don't get me wrong lots of them are cunts too) and they rely on satnav to get everywhere thus they have less awareness of what's going on in front and around them and are just following directions.. cunts.

Had a nice exchange of words with an Addison Lee driver this morning on E&C roundabout, what a cock indeed.

on monday, the day of crazy driving due to the tube strike. I saw an Addy Lee driver force his way across 2 lanes of traffic, then sit there blocking both. Luckily a cycle task force police man was just in front of me and spotted it so went and had a little chat with him.
It's so nice to see them not getting away with driving like cunts all the time.

Saw a classic Addison Lee today ...Shell Garage on Hornsey Rise heading towards Crouch end, Addison Lee driver misses it, so stops, reverses back up the hill wrong side of the road on the blind corner and then wonders in amazement at the torrent of abuse he gets from the van driver, the 2 cars and me...guy nearly causes a mass pile up, all because he couldn't be arse to drive another 25 yards to a turning a turn round in there.

As for their London knowlegde, it's farcicle, 2 cabs hired for friends wedding, bride and family split between them, driver didnt know where Marylebone Town Hall was, had to be directed to Baker St etc....bride and co had to run the last few mins to get to the ceremony on time..driver was fucking clueless!!!

How they get these job i'll never know

This morning, the very apologetic Addison Lee driver liaison admitted that some of their drivers were quite "special"!

Thought I'd share this:
Dear Tony,

As discussed this morning, my company is a regular user of Addison Lee cars and an account holder.

Yesterday - Sept 9th, at approx 4pm, your driver of LL09 YZD, pulled out into oncoming traffic from a parking bay on Lots Road. I was cycling and he pulled straight into my path causing me to brake and swerve to avoid a head-on collision.

As the Galaxy passed, I shouted at the driver.

As I continued towards Chelsea Harbour - still on Lots Road, I noticed a car tailgating me. The driver used its horn and then accelerated alongside and then swerved towards me. I was previously cycling in the middle of the road and was forced into the near-side to again avoid a collision. I stopped and at this point an elderley & overweight driver with grey hair, got out of the car and aggressively accused me of spitting at his car. He then asked if I wanted to fight him. I declined his offer, due to concerns for his health and after we exchanged pleasantries, he got back into his car and drove off.

I trust you will speak to the driver concerned, as he may want to modify his behavior/driving, or at the very least, start going to a gym before asking people to fight him.

Firstly, I am very sorry you had this experience with one our drivers.
At Addison Lee we pride ourselves on our customer care and image portrayed to the general public. This driver is now being retrained in our customer care department.
I thank you for bringing this to our attention and once again very sorry for the incident.

I appreciate this was in no way DJ'esque revenge and here's hoping that being retrained by the AL customer care department doesn't make him completely psychotic

i met a cunt today

was cars parked on the side so i did as most do and went atleest a metre away from them, a white van came along and over took me just before the traffic lights, dicided to stop over taking and slowly pushed me by the cars, wasnt even any one in the oposit lane so he had plenty of room, had no reason to push me so close, i had to brake so hard i think my back wheel came up(front braking)

he stopped at the lights shouted out get a real bike with a engine you faggot!(no joke)

i did get my own back and overtook him down the hill, he was stuck at 30mph speed limit i was getting close to 40mph, woo :)

Had similar encounter with an A&L driver in October. Sent in an email to the company (text below), but alas, no reply. It's got to be worth going to the PCO, if only to highlight the problem. Any thoughts? PHW

At c. 08:25 this morning one of your drivers in a vehicle with registration LTO8 0F?, travelling South on London Bridge Road SE1, dangerously made a right hand turn across the roadway and cycle lane which required me to brake heavily. Your driver then moved his vehicle toward me, in an intimidating manner.

It is unacceptable for your driver to act in an discourteous, intimidating and aggressive way.
I look forward to your reply and will decide upon my next action thereon.

Got a letter in the post yesterday that they're charging the driver with "driving without due care and attention".

I don't really mind that it's taken 6 months to get to this stage - the police are busy, and this is relatively minor - but I think it's shocking that he's only being charged with this. He intentionally tried to hit me with his car, and I have an independent witness corroborating my story. Why is he allowed to get off this easy?

He should at least be charged with attempted actual bodily harm.

I called the number on the letter, and the lady I spoke to has forwarded my number to the CPS for them to give me a call. I doubt they would change the charge (though I will try), but it would be nice to know the rationale behind it - "driving without due care and attention" sounds like something you'd get charged with for tuning your radio and running into the back of someone at the traffic lights, not intentionally trying to hit a cyclist with your car.

why are these stories always so disappointing? Where are the stories where a motorist is suitably punished for being a total cretin? Blue badge minicab drivers are, on the whole, unscrupulous bastards in my experience. Whenever I see them I think to myself...

I don't know how something like assault/abh/gbh etc. would work with a car involved, but the standard is just that the victim reasonably feared that they would be assaulted/harmed, so you would theoretically just have to show that your assessment of the driver's motives was reasonable, rather than showing the intent was actually necessarily there. But of course even this may be easier said than done
