LPC has voted on non-London teams NOT being allowed to play in the league.
Should teams from outside of London be allowed to play?
Yes: 16.13%
No: 74.19%
Only if they're coming from a reasonable distance (I.e., Cambridge is 45 minutes away): 9.68% -

Without sounding like a dick, I don't know who you are. So, yeah. You can. Just need someone to say: "Yeah! He plays polo!"
Sorry.

Thanks Sandy. And I'm in a team for the league (thanks Joni).
Not to sound like a dick also. But it seems a bit like your not exactly encouraging newer players to get involved.

What are you talking about? I don't know who you are so I asked someone else to confirm. In general, polo is still small enough that everyone knows everyone. If someone I don't know asks am I supposed to just add them?

If you'd have put your team name down or said where you played it wouldn't have been a problem, this goes for anyone who plays polo in London... just ask for access and the admins are usually really quick at letting you in.

Getting someone to vouch for you is hardly the biggest barrier to entry is it? It's how most clubs work. It's a way for us to be able to have polls etc that aren't warped by people voting who have nothing to do with polo.
Not to mention beginners nights, 'new to polo start here' thread, and a welcoming attitude at pick up.

Ha! I knew I should never have voiced an opinion on this one.
It all seemed a bit I don't know who are you to try and start playing. I'm not even sure we have a team name since I don't think any of us could access the LPC forum to sign up and had to go through a third party to do so. I thought my reason for requesting access being along the lines of gonna play in the league/looking to play in the league might have alluded to the fact that I intended to play polo. As for non polo players subverting polo talk, I didn't realise this was such an issue especially as I didn't even know the LPC forum existed until talking to other players about getting involved in the league.
I am also in no way commenting on the beginners polo (btw which I think is amazing and Joni should be highly commended for), the new to polo thread, or throw ins.

Sorry you felt that way. Have you been to North East polo? We're a very friendly bunch. Welcoming, encouraging, drunk, full of sweet heckles. The idea that we'd not want someone to play is about as far from the truth as you can get. (South is pretty good too, but their heckles aren't as sweet).
Maybe if you knew me, you'd realize that I wouldn't say this in a dickish way, nor would there be any trace of "I don't know who are you to try and start playing.":
