  • They're a costly addiction. I'm still working out if they are more or less harmful than cocaine.

  • Depends how you do it, Scherrit's pub-bike tap seemed inoffensive enough...

  • 400W for an hour. I wish.

Fuck yeah. 10 minutes more like*. On a good day. :/**

*I weigh a lot less than hippy

**takes solace in awesome peak power

  • I'm the antislain, I hate walking.
I meant on the bike, not actually walking

  • So. I have 85" on the bike from HH on saturday and I'll need 85" for HH next saturday.
    Do I
    a) change down and be "sensible"
    b) HTFU
    ?

  • Htfu

  • I want to drop in for this but def on a road bike..... drooling like Tony Martin....

  • I've started an attempt to put some regular evening laps in this summer. Don't have the option of gears on the commute, but might show up on Thursday and try desperately to hang on anyway.

I'm the one on a white Flyer with red tyres/tape, usually sporting either a forum or white condor cap, and a Chrome bag bouncing around uncontrollably on my back.

  • same :-)

  • Gears are welcome, i'll probably be doing a lot of them geared. Also, i'm having a slow week (today, anyway) so hanging on shouldn't be much of an issue.
@upstart i would say htfu, but if you're struggling to get on top of that as a gear there's no harm in adding a tooth on the back and dropping down to 78". You want to be comfortable, and we won't be cruising at the 23ish that spinning 84 becomes comfortable.
Also, didn't see you at the track! I was moping in the middle. For most of the day.

  • Htfu

Noted. Will see how the legs feel

  • (Dubtap, when you say gears do you mean your new shiny white carbon beastie gears?)

I was with the noobies as it was my first time but totally loved it. Definitely going back next week. I didn't see you either but don't you have a stealth black tarck machine anyway? Or going too fast?

I wouldn't even consider turing up on 85" had it not been for going to HH - I rode to the track on 85" which was a hell of a lot easier than I was expecting (although only about 7 miles to get there).

I rode HoP on 74" last year which was fine but as I want to start TTing soon I feel I probably need to start getting used to big gears occasionally.

  • 65 would be taking the piss wouldn't it?

  • Turning up on a boris bike would be taking the piss

  • Pretty sure you can spin well enough to make it work, D. Just got to get it to 20 and hold it there. Wouldn't recommend doing it on a boris, unless you swap half way to change bikes. And have legs of awesome.

  • Legs of awesome. Only Jay gee's freshly waxed pins could take that prize.

  • And you can get a tow too!

no prob my other road bike (get her!) I've taken it off the turbo.

    scares me....

This was me TTing at the weekend. I had the full snot beard on the VC Elan Hilly 22TT. Didn't want to get out of aero to wipe it all off.

  • dude

  • also, @dubtap, awww - I'll be using this as a test-bed for my white carbon beastie once I get it back from the shop...

  • actually if the team bidons that perfectly coordinate with my frame arrive I might.

  • A heads up that if it's wet I'll be at home in the warm instead of powering for the hour[ing]
