yeah, annoyingly if it's dry I can't really justify missing it. really really need a night off though, my arms are killing me, my legs barely work.

Total, total, rest week for me.. Not even out at the weekend.. Weeks like this are hard... I realise how addicted I am to cycling

Enviable.
I only realise it when I try to stop. A blitz on Sunday to tire the legs out, but then went out on Monday so I wouldn't do Tuesday, but then weather was sort of alright so did Tuesday, but then Wednesday so I wouldn't do tonight, but it's looking pleasant, sooo... Each night's been pretty high intensity too, so I'm just digging myself a hole atm.
Get a nagging guilty feeling if I'm not riding, which is worse than the knackering exhaustion I get when I do. Can barely lift my arms today I'm running so low. -

is that cos you lost an arm wrestle to me two weeks ago? huh? you roadie! ;)

You can always join Matt's merry band of spinny gear fixed riders? Consider it a rest ride!
-
• #1883
Gearing prohibits going that slow :P
-
• #1884
Nope, ask Benjam... Stick it in a big gear and cruise like Tom (not you!)

Weather looking positive, raintoday.co.uk makes it look like the incoming rain could just miss us. Show of hands, who's interested?

I'll probably play even if it's to perform a long term test on my new bars to see if i'm going to keep them or not...

A pleasure rolling with OSR and 6pt today. Average 19.75mph. Apparently thats slow, I thought it was fast. Cant imagine ill ever go faster than that without taking steroids

And respect to econodog doing laps on the Boris bike! That man is determined, hope the dynamo goes well for you.
-
• #1892
*would like to point out I spent most of my time waiting for them at traffic lights and was definitely averaging >20mph :P

I'm fucked, back is fucked, knees are fucked - all coz of those damn bars!
Anyway bars for sale and now trying to get my seat position back to where it used to be. Normal riding shall resume shortly.

Those fucking lights. I was also circulating ~2mph slower than usual, which equated to hitting almost every fucking red (well, only half of them by the zoo).
We need to collect some data, to work out which average speed gets you a clear run; although I realise a lot of it is to do with ped-request lights, and fuck me, there were a lot of peds.
-
• #1896
Last year it was 23.8, assuming you start at the lights at the crossroads into the inner circle, but the lights at the top of the drag and by the zoo aren't on the phase and would easily mess things up. Plus there's the optional ped phase at that junction, which is pretty much default till the crowds thin out. Hrumph :(
Just grind through slowly at a low cadence with a look of grim determination. Then people will assume you're just another one of those Fucking Triathletes®.
(They were really getting to me the other night) -
• #1897
I was guessing about 24mph. That's perfect really, apart from on those days when one has bad sensations in the legs.

I'm not your typical emaciated roadie, but refuse to get into the territory of ill-proportioned top-heavy trigeeks. And sleeveless is a fucking abomination too. And I won't fight my bike. [/lover]

But you gain the magic ability of being able to run reds and mow down pedestrians with impunity, and not have to go fast anymore. You sell your soul but you gain your freedom.
Sleveless is an abomination. -

Sleveless
Is that one of those internetz spelling things, like 'teh', 'tarck', and 'brakless'. I quite like it. Or maybe 'slevless'.
fair weather cyclists is already in the tags. thwarted.
