  • best ever thread at grumpy old men wasting time saying what they dont get anymore
    logs off, goes to school

  • logs off, goes to school

    Nearly time to go grooming.

  • What do you mean by* "anymore"*? I always found Dio bit shit compared to the rest of the real metal scene.

  • Long Live Rock'n'Roll is still a classic album though

  • Even Mr Ranks himself released the odd awesome tune, Pirates Anthem is a classic.

  • They are very useful for long rides when you're on a easy section. I run mine inboard. They is well good, give me respect.

    poor mans tribars?

  • What do you mean by* "anymore"*? I always found Dio bit shit compared to the rest of the real metal scene.

    but you like pendulum

  • I spent the morning listening to Rainbow.

    :)

    Dio FTW!

  • Dammit Balks, I need to spread more rep, but Rainbow love! hells yeah!

  • Hmm, I’ve been up since six, so sorry if this sounds a bit ranty. Too little sleep.

I don’t really understand a proposition along the lines of “I don’t like reggae”. It’s a bit like saying “I don’t like guitar music”. What? All guitar music, or 60s, 70s, 90s, Hair Metal, Carl Perkins? As a genre it has too many years of types, divisions, off shoots for you to be able to say such a definitive statement.

I like some reggae, not all, but as Skully said – it’s partly oral history, some of it is party music, some of it is protest songs.

I like it’s early DIY production values that p!ss all over anything like a ‘celebrated’ producer such as George Martin ever managed.

    I like it’s appropriation of ‘white’ 60s R&B songs

I like the fact it’s spintered off into a million and one different genres.

I like the fact it makes the ladies dance.

And Niall, tell me about the uncivilised Southern Britain prior to Roman invasion? I was under the impression that we’d already accommodated and taken up Romanesque habits. Don’t give me that ‘civilisation’ rubbish and go and read some pre history. And go and look at US prison statistics and repeat that sentence about “peace, rights, privileges and opportunities”.

I’ll switch off the bleeding liberal button now.

  • haha... Rainbow love is fine by me.

  • I also don't get the take up of language on here. 'Cockpit' arrived a week ago and is now all over the shop.....

#off to make flying jet noises around the office.

  • Cockpit can fuck right off.

  • ive got tri bars for my road bike cockpit,
its just that bar ends work better for youre mtb cockpit

  • You should've listened to Stravinsky then.

You've never heard any reagge, have you?
There's nothing deep about reggae lyrics. They are simple words, describing simple world, simple hopes. Sometimes simple things like making love to the woman. Nothing pseudo-intellectual there.

No I haven't, I don't want to because it sounds shit and it is boring, I was referring to the Sex Pistols you posted earlier.

Lyrics which "pretend to be deep":
*Spinning cages for her pleasure weaving chains to hold the prize
Magic moments with the jailer all on fire and then he dies
Eat your heart out you've been a bad bad girl you've been hungry all of your life yeah
We speed across emotions and then we lose our hold
We turn on wings of passion that we can't control no
And all the promises of springtime turned to lies so cold
But I'm stronger than you know and I've come to let you go
Go eat your heart out you've been a bad bad girl you've been hungry all of your life so eat your heart out *
    (DIO)

    Lyrics which don't pretend anything:
Because punauny to mek yuh happy
    Punauny to mek yuh sad
Punauny it ave a owna but it dont wear a tag
Punauny inna panty nuh wear inna bag
Wi nuh bow to punauny it nuh wear a military badge
Yuh get inna punauny dat can swalla a hog
Stand up and work mi fren nuh gwaan like a cowad
Put har foot upon yuh shoulda raise punauny high like a flag
Skin it out wide an kill it wid stab
Punauny come here to wash by soap an rag
If yuh nuh wash di punauny good it stinka dan dead hog

    (Shabba Ranks)

Dio is over the top bollox .. you can't take it seriously because it is so OTT. When some guy is playing his tits off on guitar and the bloke is talking about a demon dragging a priest into the sea .. how the hell can you

Simple Hopes and All this shit ... Don't really care about it .. .it isn't soulful or anything like that it is just fecking annoying ... it like listening to a mate blub his heart out about some girl ... annoying as fuck ... as thus why I kill such conversations quickly. Maybe if he wasn't making some crap Reggae, he could be sorting out the problem ... if he is a successful reggae Guy he obviously got loads of dosh and doesn't really care.

  • I wonder if it's because Reggae is aimed at the hips first, not the head? European music is very much aimed at the head, whereas Reggae and dance are bass driven, made for getting your hips all loose and funky?

Getting Lose and Funky just means you are irritating the fuck out of me. I Like being a miserable arsehole who hates everyone and everything ... I don't like dancing around like a cock and being funky ... I sit there in the corner giving you the stink eye.

  • You mean the driest form of wit.

    No.

  • nice one EEI

    yeah, no really really funny.

Remind me never to buy you a coffee again. You can be such an irritating cunt.

  • Lucas, theres lots of people readingthis that will most likely know (even if only this) that Stravinsky was the master of poly-rhythmic music, wrote several ballets, tons of orchestral work, and was one of the most important forces in classical music.
posting stuff like "its boring" makes you sound like a Poole cacker.

na I can ride on the inboard bar ends in many more situations, they're espically good for non-technical uphills.

  • I also don't get the take up of language on here. 'Cockpit' arrived a week ago and is now all over the shop.....

Is a cockpit like a moshpit but at a sexy time bar?
