Suggestions: £500 - 1000, road bike. Discs. 30c tyres.
What's the best bang for buck.
I guess something with Ok frame but groupset that could be upgraded in time if wanted.

Canyon.

pushes the budget a bit, also don't want to default to that first. Ideally closer to 500.

it's not for me!

Vitus/wiggle are good and crazy cheap

What’s the thoughts on these frames?

Expensive for what you get?

Everything seems to be ridiculously overpriced nowadays so I guess it depends on what you compare it with
-

I'd get a Mason for that sort of money.
-
• #7538
Yeah or a Strael, which is the same price and universally rated

What's the forum approved sub 2k (fastish/not gravel) road bike? I'd prefer steel or titanium but beggars cannot be choosers. Having a nightmare trying to find something that represents value in this current climate.

I’d go TCR but you might struggle to find one. There are some bargains on eBay or Facebook if you want rim bakes.

The Planet X ti bikes are well regarded.

Strel is cheaper than Mason for same spec no? Was about 1000 quid cheaper when I last checked.

Have been considering a Planet X ti for while, but not entirely convinced by the aesthetics. Had originally bought a Ritchey Logic frameset but it arrived with a damaged fork, which may have been a blessing in disguise looking at the current price of groupsets. It's a real ball ache that bike24/Mantel etc will no longer deliver to the UK.

Strael is 2300 ish Resolution is 3100. Pretty big difference!

Have you looked on eBay? I found a nice bike with discs, Di2 and carbon wheels for £2,400.
-
• #7547
Yeah. And I know which is better.
-
• #7548
Bit wary of spending big on ebay and not getting a warranty or being aware of previous crashes.
-
• #7549
For your budget, you’ll end up with something nearly new.
You should easily spot if ti has been crashed.

Canyon ultimate is near on 2k for rim braked I think.
Edit - 1900 but none available sadly.
Bike arrived and looks lovely. I really loved my old SuperSix, but this is very different. Need to accept change and not be too sentimental.
Went for the 56cm with -4mm reach instead of the 58cm with +3mm, compared with the 58 Cannondale. Hopefully will be fine and won't have to have a huge spacer stack, only 20mm or so.
Still some adjustments to make, things to remove / add.
