Haven't got a clue but it has a channel. Probably means I'll try out a arione with a channel when I get home...
Though today wasn't quite as nice as yesterday, and I spent much of it trying to stay low to avoid a headwind. So maybe the relative comfort was due to spending large proportion of riding time out of saddle. -

Just stepped back on the 'dale, just to get me back home from Pancras. I'm carrying 20kgs on my back (all my stuff for over a month) and the CAAD still feels ridiculously nimble compared to the emonda. Also I take back what I said about the saddle.

Evans have the Emonda SLR 10 4.75kg build on the shop floor in Mortimer Street branch. Comically light, genuine WTF moment when you lift it.

These are awful. The channel has no form or structure and compresses when you sit on it - leaving you with two semi-firm ridges pressed into you. The worst saddle I've ever used - cut me like a knife. Normal arione much better, if you want a cutaway, use a romin, troupe or similar.

Interesting enough I've had the same issues with the aliante vs! Ill thought out design I think

I find mine quite comfy

Isn't it? Nearly LOL'd when I picked it up - even with the cable around the back wheel. Looks like a proper bike though.

Just seems like an after thought "oh people don't like round saddles, we'll just put a groove in the padding" rather than an actual piece of design.
That said, I'm not the lightest rider (usually somewhere between 86-88kg currently) - though that arione versus has now been passed around several clubmates on trial and they all said it was awful too. -

what numbers do I need to work out if a frame will fit, reach, stack?
caad10 48cm
reach: 368
stack: 51750cm Croix de Fer
reach: 374
stack: 543My caad10 is pretty much perfect and has a 90mm stem
-
• #6694
It's 6mm extra, not 10cm. Should be ok. Could run a 80mm stem. Small frame anyway.
-
• #6695
i feared as much.
The glandon is very, very ugly though.
Any other suggestions for a similar bike? I quite like surly cross check/straggler but would prefer something less heavy.
-
• #6696
Go custom alu. Talk to Singular cycles.
Col du glandon isnt bad .. its also 650b. 700c will gurantee toe overlap.
I have no idea why people get so excited with chromoly Surly frames .. -
• #6697
hardly excited, but at least it would fit.
If I go custom it would be steel..
-
• #6698
See above. The smallest CDF should be fine. Try it with an 80mm stem. It's not like it's a race bike and you need a longer one, plus it's a small frame anyway.
-
• #6699
Actaully that's true. Yes.
But not sure how 80mm stem would be on loaded bike, never ridden something like that with 70 trail -

Looking (for a friend) for a new carbon road frame up to ~ £700.
Things that would be nice...
- a warranty
- room for 28s
- external cable routing
- tasteful paint
Any suggestions welcome.

Why? What's on the Emonda?
