  • This.

Lots of BB30 have plastic shell.

    "Plastic" being the operative word.

  • Praxis do a nicer one.

  • Thats why I didnt want to use the spoke prep that I often use on stuff I dont want to move.

Its still pressfit. You just install it by screwing the Central threads together. Kinda twist fit I Guess.

I think its overkill. But I wanted the crank axle covered anyway. I'll loads of wires and stuff in there.

  • The anti-seize comes on the threads of the KCNC

  • Be warned the Praxis convertor BB does not fit in all BB30 systems. That's why I had to use KCNC

  • which ones? only ask as I'm about to get one. fucking bike standards with companies not following the standard, ffs!

  • Mine is a Felt. Doesn't work.

They have a crib sheet on their website. I'm unsure about the design TBH, the Collet seems to be really unnecessary IMO and would interfere with most Di2 frames where the cable run is under the BB

  • Felt: assume they only machine the bearing and circlip surfaces leaving something protruding through the centre of the shell, preventing the collect from going through the width of the BB shell.

edit - ah, there are no circlips, just a permanent BB90 type lip. Doh. I would point the finger and say that's not a BB30 shell, then, but given even 'dale do this on some frames what would be the point.

The collet: I assume they do this because a) they are lazy and can't machine the adapter to spec or b) frame manufacturers are lazy and can't machine their shells to spec, or c) both

BB30 or 30mm cranks - just use them, save yourself pain.

  • cheers, yeah, I think it's just for "extra security" but really I don't see it doing much, I need it for sram though, and praxis/wheels mfg. are the only people that make one.

  • SRAM make very nice bb30 and 30mm cranks tho

  • Yeah. I was thinking about the cup bits. I'll smear a minimal layer of grease on and call it good.

    Cheers.

  • Came here to post that. Regardless what you think of those frames, that's a great deal.

The email says they're going to stop using Shimano on 2015 builds. Campag and SRAM all the way apparently.

Seems a stupid decision given the value that Shimano offers.

  • the difference isn't that high, many would argue sram offers better value for money on the low groupsets particularly. And one of the reasons shimano can be had so cheap is the huge OEM following, it's a catch 22 for Sram and Campagnolo until the cycle is broken

  • many would argue sram offers better value for money on the low groupsets particularly.

Nah, it's likely because Planet-X got better trade deals on SRAM/Campagnolo than Shimano.

  • oooof

Talk me out of buying this: http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/item/Focus/Izalco-Team-SL-40-Compact-Road-Bike-2014/2RFU?wmp=272

Over budget, but a good looking bike and a good looking deal!

  • I run a praxis converter on my PF30 BB shell with 9070 Di2 with no issues or creaks whatsoever.

  • 3D Full Carbon Dropouts The carbon dropouts enable a more stable connection between chain stays and seat stays. the rear wheel is held with extreme stiffness and stability.

    :/

  • is this not good?

  • Can you afford not to buy that?

  • Can you also buy me one please (56)?

  • My size. I could buy one for you and then keep it if I liked it. I guess....

  • I've not ridden one. I quite fancy one though.

...they're under 7kg as standard. Switch the wheels and you've got a World Tour spec frame and a bike so light it's actually illegal.

    :-)

  • Haha if have to make sure I didn't ride it so I was never overtaken.

Googling carbon dropouts is frightening though...
