The real voodoo is how my 853 Feather rides even more smoothly and solidly than my Cayo. Crabon I can understand - you can vary the wall thickness pretty much as you please - but in conventional-looking steel...
Did your Feather have oversized 853?

Did your Feather have oversized 853?
It's oversize 853 Pro Team, yes. So it's butted heavily, but still simple round tubes (and oval chainstays).

entry level dura ace?
-
• #3109
The Volant is regarded as an entry levels road bike, Genesis decided to dressed it up in Dura Ace instead of the usual Tiagra.

Genesis Equilibrium Ti
They describe this as a 'hard riding' ti frame (stiff front end). I like.
A lot of cash though.

The original Equilibrium were a pretty nice bike, especially weighting at 9.5kg which I thought was reasonable for a modern steel bike.

colleague at work has the previous steel Equilibrium, it looks a nice ride, although I just don't like the sloping top tube

Why don't component makers (Easton, 3T, FSA, Richley, Pro-lite, Pro, etc) offer a discounted "group" package?
I'm sure they do...to OEM customers.

Why don't component makers (Easton, 3T, FSA, Richley, Pro-lite, Pro, etc) offer a discounted "group" package? Like bars+stem+fork+seatpost or something. Seems like a missed win/win opportunity.
Duh.. too many size combinations I guess. Still.. cashback offer or something. #grump

FWIW I'm fairly happy with the Burls after it's first real outing. It's not a triple butted weight weenie or an exquisitely finished Seven but it'll do. Roughly 52cm frame 74/72.5° angles - same stack & reach as a 52cm Cannondale Super-six as it turns out - and 7.7kg complete.
Compared to the focus cayo the ride has that same surface dulling quality, though not quite as lush. On the other hand it feels more immediately responsive - twitchy but not in a scary way. We worked out the sizing by comparing to the two bikes I owned previously and it feels about right. Would recommend.

this looks nice - but so does anything with deep section carbon wheels and Dura Ace..

My bare and hairy arse, would look nice next to a DA crankset.

that's actually their reasoning of putting it on their entry level road frame, so it'll look nice as a lots of manufacturer have nice frame that look crap with cheaper gruppo.

The DA chainset has grown on me. It's certainly better looking than the Red Cranks.
Campag Ultra Torque cranks are at the top of the pretty tree of course

I don't have a problem with Shimano at all. If anything I think SRAM looks best though.

They look amazing on exactly the right build. But nasty on nearly everthing else. A weird design fail when you cosider Shimanos non-boutique branding.
Anyway I run Rotors with aero rings*. So I'm the last one that should critisize.

I can vouch for the Cinelli Experience, been on one for about 5 months, stiff, light and runs silently. Also looks cool.
