  • You should also be able to use your old monitor with your new PC. Screen resolution may need to be adjusted though, as most new computers have a higher resolution as default, as opposed to the lower resolution that would have come with the old computer you got your monitor with.

  • I have my prefererances and everyone else will have theirs, but i always thought HP Business models to be very good in terms of no frills apperance, no marketing markup, no bullshit, full of the good stuff that people need rather than usless stuff made to make it sell better to clueless.

i have a 7 year old HP laptop, that's still faster than my other halfs computer wheich was bought 1 year ago. problems = none, not one issue. Amazing really.

Yep. HP rule. Using them at work what was made me buy my own. I have a 4 year old nx9220 and a err.. older nx8220 and a mini desktop machine and they are rock solid.

  • And I can use my old HP monitor?

Yes, CRT and flat screen monitors will both work

  • Computer snobs. Don't talk to us unless it's Intel 531..

  • I go to the Flickr home page, go to sign in and it asks me for my Yahoo ID and password. I know they are correct because I can sign in to a Yahoo group with them. I use the search to find one of my pics and go to my home page. It says I am not signed in. When I try to sign in it displays my Yahoo ID and asks for my password. When i type that in it takes me to a page that says I am almost done creating my new account and asks for my new Flickr screen name. If I type in WiganWill it says that name is already taken - which it is, by me!
    I'm stumped.

  • Go to flickr and ask for a password reminder (they might use different accounts or something for yahoo, I dunno). Make sure you are using the right one.

If your username and pw are ok..

Close your browser and restart it. Then go straight to the sign in page for flickr and try your username/password combo again. If that doesn't work clear your browsers cookies and repeat.

  • I got a pretty good spec AMD XP desktop base unit (no monitor) of Ebay from £55 including a big graphics card. Then got and Eizo monitor to go with it for £100.

The auction place in SW18 is excellent for notebooks netbooks.

closed the browser; no luck. I 'changed' my password earlier so I know that is ok; I can access Yahoo groups and mail but not Flickr; it keeps telling me I am ready to open my new account with my Yahoo ID.
I don't know what clearing cookies means.
Ealier today my computer crashed and wiped everything out. I was using Firefox so that is where all my passwords were. Can't get in to Flickr on Firefox either. It is the only site I am not able to get in to now; bank account, e-mail, everything else is fine.

  • Just so you know, your computer crashing and wiping everything will have nothing to do with not being able to get onto Flickr, as your account information will be stored online, hence being able to access your account from any computer with an Internet connection.

If you recently changed your password, try entering your old one?

  • Scobleizer... haha.

  • Mmm, Flickr is asking me for my Yahoo ID and password, not a Flickr password. I don't know. Anyway I have e-mailed them. Since this computer is too fucked to handle uploading or downloading pics anyway I can wait.

  • You can use your Yahoo ID to open your Flickr pages. Flickr is owned by Yahoo, just as you can use a Gmail ID to post on Youtube.

  • Er, that's exactly the point GA2G: I am not being allowed to open Flickr with my Yahoo ID or user name.

  • What security software is on your computer, and do you update it and run it often?

    AntiSpyware software?
    AnitVirus software?

The reason I ask, is because your Yahoo account may have been hacked. Its very common at the moment.
I'd start by changing my Yahoo password, THEN get the Flickr people to reset your password.

If this is way off base, please excuse my ineffectualness.

  • Sounds like good advice, GA2G.

  • Shut up Max!

  • Shut up, Tim!

  • Listen to you... Innocently walking around the flat... No idea I'm calling you a cunt on the Internet... Fuckin rookie...

  • I'd start by changing my Yahoo password, THEN get the Flickr people to reset your password.
    .

Thanks for the help. You didn't really read through the thread did you? Off to the naughty step. Go on, off you go. You can make a list of reasons why people should always read through a thread before posting. :)

  • List of reasons:

    1. There is no spoon.
    2. Should I take the red pill or the blue pill?
    3. Do chains stretch?
  • Sorry for not reading carefully. It must be like the flu or something......as its catching..

  • My guess is that you have a duff cookie for Flickr. Which browser are you using? I'll dig up some instructions for finding the right one and deleting it.
