  • Definitely have them festoon you with a guido-style 'blow-out' hairpiece.

  • Prophetic there Mr. RPM as the Kojak creator is my namesake.

More answers please, before I resort to Clefty's suggestion and end up looking like a whingey vegan. This doesn't involve hair straighteners and looking like Oliver.

  • Just turn Obama into teenslain and you have it

    Number one...

  • ^^ been there. Even to the extent of having it peroxide before shaving it...

Besides, when I had that haircut odd people would talk to me and once again I seem to be attracting nutters. The last one was a drunk Dutch Hoolie at the weekend who thought he recognised me, and then spent 30 minutes listing the names of UK hardmen he knew and the fights he had in the UK.

All I wanted to do was schmoke a pancake. I made my excuses and left.

  • hey ladies, i do indeed cut hair and although i work at a salon in Primrose Hill (£££), i'm running a special deal for the forum--£20 a cut, your place or mine. hair, fixed.

feel free to call or text as i'm rarely on the interweb...07548351685

  • Probably not of much use to the OP but for future reference... I got my hairs did by Kim at Ruby Blue in Newington Green last week. Right next to Push. I had super long hair and wanted some thing short-but-not-too-short, very low maintenance, that wouldn't suffer by having a helmet jammed on top of it on a regular basis. The result was good and I'm fairly happy with it. £44 I think, which was acceptable to me since I get my hair cut so rarely.

i got a cut from one of their apprentices a month or so ago, and it was fantastic. she was a bit timid about it, but most trainees are, and i was really happy with the cut at the end of it.

and it's right by my house. win.

  • I've been going to a fantastic Japanese hairdresser's for the past 3 years, they are really damn good, you don't have to engage in moronic hairdresser chit-chat if you don't want to - and its about £36 plus shiatsu head massage. Ask for Nasu Nagano at B:ZAR and say Gloria sent you.

It's on Brewer Street just off Oxford Street actually. http://www.b-zar.com/contact.html

  • Hi there, can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced, hairdresser in the Beauvoir area? Or indeed Walthamstow. Have had far too many hair disasters at the hands of London hairdressers who seem completely baffled by long, naturally straight, fine hair.

    Cheers

do you mean beauvoir area hoxton? 10 gales do really good haircuts (dry cuts) for around £15 in Bethnal Green or Aqfin on commercial street, although they are a bit pricey....

  • Tuesday nights outside the Toni & Guy Academy on New Oxford Street (Tottenham Court Road), about 6pm.

It's fully qualified hairdressers on Art Academy, always looking for models.

  • We actually have our own hairdresser here on the forum!!! Lonestar. She's brilliant. cuts somewhere in primrose hill (probably an exorbitant price) but will happily cut at home (yours?) for about £20! WIN.
She cut mine (curely) and a gf's (straight) hair a couple of weeks ago and she is GOOOOD. We were both so stoked. I highly recommend her.
and a recommendation from me re hairdressers does not come easily....
    : )

actually I take my last post back Lonestar sounds like an epic win!

  • buh, Lonestar doesn't live here anymore, last I knew. I need someone who's in the south/eastish london area who would like to trade massage for color!

    That explains it all Dov.

  • My hairdresser, Curtis, is looking for (male and female) clients and is offering home visits or you can go to his place in Streatham. £25 a cut, a fantastic discount vs salon prices!

Curtis has been cutting my hair for 10 years or so (as well as Jaygee's once upon a time). I highly recommend him.

I don't want to put his personal details here but please pm me and I'll send them on.

    PM'd

  • Replied!

  • FYI - Tommy Guns in Shoreditch needs models for their junior stylists every Monday morning for either colour & cut or just cut. It didn't take that much longer than a normal haircut, and there's complete supervision and instruction by the lady running it. I was well impressed and got a great haircut for only £5.

  • Oh really at the above...useful to know!

  • Bump.
    I need a nice haircut, but I don't want to pay £50.
There must be someone on the forum who has contacts and wants some private work? They'd make a killing if they wanted to be the residential lfgss hairdresser.

  • ^ This, I need my fringe cut back in asap, the rest just needs a little trim. I'm really particular about how I like my fringe done though and trying to find someone I can trust with it is hard (my all-time fave hairdresser is based in Nottm, and I'm not going home for months yet unfortunately).

  • I've had success with stand-by-appointments with Headmaster salons. They are everywhere and as long as you aren't fussed about who you have cut your hair and make sure not to succumb to up-selling, £25 isn't too bad for a decent haircut. (That being said, I have hair that is pretty easy to handle and I always just ask for a wash and go cut)

  • That's for 'work hours' though right?
Spectacularly poorly worded sentence on there website.

It needs to be an evening or weekend appointment.

  • ^ You can get weekend appointments as well. My last one was on Saturday morning. I just called Friday afternoon and they gave me a 9am appointment on Saturday, it should work for Sunday as well, as long as the particular shop is open that day.
