There's no women version of the popular Allez which is a shame.
But worth being sure you need a WSD - I am short in leg and long in body (which I think is the opposite of what WSD is meant to accommodate) and get on well with my Allez. There may be other differences, which are lost on me.

That too.
Had quite a handful of women who fit perfectly fine on the Allez, most of them just need a slightly shorter stem but otherwise fine (80-90mm instead of 100-110mm), hell the smallest Allez is pretty women-friendly.
Applespider, the reason why the Cannondale are hard to get ahold of is that their European Distribution is quite frankly, rubbish, probably because they were quite successful in America that they don't really put that much attention in the European market, 'is a shame cause I liked the Cannondale bicycle as they ride surprisingly well in comparison to the other.

Lardboy, I'd like the article if you can find it. I'm still dithering at the moment over the Cannondale Synapse Tiagra and the Dolce Elite (mainly since it's taking an age to get the Cannondale in stock to let me try it) and it's the better frame tempting me.
Done.Cannondale do seem completely useless at distributing their bikes over here. I was in On Your Bike looking at a new road bike, and they mentioned that they'd taken deposits last December for 2011 bikes, and they were still waiting on delivery in June. Until your bike is in the shop, I'd hold off on putting any money against it.
The attachments dont all seem to be loading. Should be 6 in all.

Thank you! Haven't had to put any hard cash down yet... will perhaps go and ask more questions over the weekend as to how likely the test bike is to actually arrive!

Just after I posted last, I got a call to say that the Cannondale was now discontinued so they couldn't get one in and I was narked that the blokes' Specialized had gone on sale but not the womens. Grrrr! When what should ping into my inbox but an eBay search for a Trek WSD which I got for half the price of one of the new ones I'd been looking at but with similar spec. So I'm now the proud owner of a 47cm 2.1 Trek in red/white which got dropped off tonight. I've cleaned/lubed the chain and pumped up the tyres - I spotted one little chip in the top tube and the tape could do with being replaced at some point but otherwise, it looks in pretty good nick. Here's hoping for a lovely dry weekend to take it out...

I doubt it's going anywhere for a bit. Let me know when you have the dough-ray-me and I'll let you know if we still have it.

Hey! I've been a member of this forum for ages but never actually got round to posting anything. Until now! I thought I should show off the result of a years worth of lurkage. It needs a new saddle & some bar tape & possibly a shorter stem/risers but is otherwise complete. I LOVE it! Thanks for all the (unknowingly given) advice that helped me to build it!

hi!
I'm completely new to the forum and was just wondering if you guys could recommend any websites/books/articles on building your own fixie? I've had my racer for around 6 months that my da has very kindly polished up for me, but I really want to start from scratch and take my time building one. My dad is pretty good at making bikes but isn't too fond of fixed gear (he says they are dangerous) but i thought it would be a great way to learn about them whilst not desperate for a mode of transport and needing a new project now I've finished uni. I know fixie communities can be a bit elitist so please take pity on my naivety and complete lack of knowledge!

Hi Kimm, welcome to the forum
Good place to start is here http://www.sheldonbrown.com/fixed/index.html
The good news is that fixed gear is probably the easiest bike you can build
You have a couple of options, you can either convert your existing bike (totally possible from the pic)
Or you could start from scratch, personally I would start from scratch, then at least you still have one bike you can ride!
Your best bet is to find and old frame on ebay, something with horizontal drop outs (there is a section on sheldon about dropouts), the rest is pretty straightforward.Don't be afraid to ask questions here tho!

I had a look at the trek today and it is not for me. It is a 47cm frame...anyway Nhatt has all the details if anyone is looking for a small geared bike at the moment.

Looking for a bike very similar to this for my girlfriend - does anyone know where and if this was bought complete? cheers.

I own one Trek WSD bike (admittedly a Madone 5.0 so not quite the same spec)
Am going to look/sigh/try a ex store/demo Madone 4.0 tomorrow that a bike shop mate is going to try and sort out a cost price for me on.
I'm going to want that bike, after a trial ride, aren't I? : /

Btw...any bike shop types, Ed? Nhatt? Got any idea what the cost price would be?
