This is becoming more and more attractive. I'm up for sleeping rough, apparently the park by the Eiffel Tower is the place. It's just a case of whether I have enough money to feed myself for the journey - I'm so poor :(

so me and graeme have been eyeing up the journey and it looks like a very easy trip.two days there one day in paris cycling around and then a night out in paris and then two nights back. dates are still to be confirmed but it will be in the first couple of weeks of august. most likely the 17th till the 22nd.Thoughts appreciated?

ohhhh I might be able to come then, let me know the dates

indeed, rather then follow out own route we thought we'd follow this one as its already expertly mapped out.

there is a campsite 30 miles outside Paris, and i can't find it now on the forum,
the plan would be, depart Brighton about 1am, get the early ferry, have a kip and cycle the whole day down to the campsite. (though could just rough it)
next day cycle 30miles into Paris. get in hostel and spend a day cycling Paris seeing the sites, back to hostel to shower and have a night out.
next day spend most of day in Paris recovering from hangover with baguettes, Croissants and Camembert. before leving about 5 to return to same campsite.
next day cycle all the way back for evening ferry to newhaven and then home getting in in the wee hours.

-
• #36
I won't be at the "chateau", I will be at the chalet, feel free to join, but it's a bit further away!
-
• #37
i like how you just said ''further away'' rather then the address in case we really do turn up ;)

sweet see you tomorrow
i never knew you lived so close to Italy in the alps! i genuinely thought you where from Paris,
unless you on holiday then where the hell are you from. -
• #40
From Versailles, but not from the "chateau" which means I have a chance of not getting beheaded in the future.

Friday @ Saturday 1100 - 1700. We often are there out of hours though so call or PM and I can open up.
I'll join you for the ride to Paris; I wanted to go this year and I really hate long distance alone. Is it brakeless?
-
• #46
sorry dude,
i have a panier you can borrow if it fits dude. plus i have that link saved i think with the good route. you just booked the one week i could never do, as i'm in essex. witch sucks,
-
• #47
green steel= steve right? i'll be there on friday at 11 so we can chuck a brake and a panier on if you have any.also if you would want to come that would be fantastic!
-
• #48
The last time I went long on my track bike I had to tie stuff around the frame. No pannier mountings.
Agree on the brake, it's too hard on the knees. As for the gearing 70 or 75 for me. -
• #49
Thom, Ive got a touring bike you can borrow if you can get your leg over.
