  • Excellent video music and wording is exclusive. Professional technology must have been activated.

    10/10

  • can someone point me toward some reynolds 725 frames with carbon forks, flat mount/thru-axle for much less ££

Spotted the Genesis Equilibrium for the same same price.

  • The mehteh frame says: Reynolds 725 heat treated chromoly double-butted main triangle down in the description. So not all of the tubing is 725 for this frame also perhaps?

  • Can’t be arsed with Fairlight tho.

  • The Norco Search steel frameset ticked these boxes. Not sure if still available.

edit: still available at Evans but a bit more than it used to be.

  • 99% of the time when someone complains about the cost of china manufactured chromoly frames it turns out they're a staunch remainer who demands a people's vote and refuses to acknowledge the price hikes on bike frames since 2015 and the increased costs of things like flat mount and thru axle, or they think you should just get a carbonda.

  • Both of these things are @amey

  • and I also have a carbonda .. or is it an carbonda?

  • here's my Swift finally with some legit cranks 🤙

  • The only steel bike I have owned so I haven't been spoiled by anything particularly better. I like my Allday.

  • I am in a bit of a predicament. I have been servicing my 2017 Kepler in preparation for JOGLE on Thursday and have found a crack in the seatstay that looks to have been there a while.

I am assuming I would be incredibly stupid to ride 1000 miles on this frame? I have ridden the bike a lot but I haven’t done anything silly on it so I’m quite surprised it has failed. Warranty?

Here is a picture of the damage:

  • Is it just where the bridge joins the stay?

  • Looks more like a spot they didn't weld at all. Probably fine but check with brother first.

  • Exactly that - however, the other side is neatly welded -

  • Looks like it too is just welded on top, just some paint is covering the seam so it hasn't rusted yet.

E: so in other words. RIDE ON BROTHER!

  • Yeah looks like it was never welded. If you want to bring it to Putney in an evening, I can fillet braze it together but you'll lose the paint. Fiver to cover the cost of gas and brass

  • So is the general consensus that this area is not generally welded? That seems strange to me.

I’ve only got a phone camera and shit lighting but it looks like a crack to me.

Here is another poor quality photo for your viewing displeasure -

  • Thanks man - I’m Bristol based but get down to London a bit. If I don’t satisfy myself that this is okay I might take you up on that.

  • From that angle, who knows. May just be a crack but only in the weld and not the tubes.

It'll be fine to ride though. I cut the bridge off my Genesis and brazed a one sided one back on and that's probably thinner tubing. It's been fine

  • Whatever it is the frame is steel and won't really fail dramatically anyway. I wouldn't stop riding it but do as you want.

  • Thanks both - I reckon I am going to get in touch with Brother and see what they say.

I’ll probably end up riding it for the trip - my only other option at the moment is a pompino. I am not sure I am have the legs to do 1000 miles single speed.

  • I'm in search for a Big Bro frameset in large if someone has it collecting dust somewhere.

  • SBC have a demo frame going atm

  • Brother were super sound and are replacing the frame with a 2020 model. I am taking this sunset one out for a few last spins before it goes back for warranty.
