and now I have asked you to disprove the ionic wind...I have have asked for links, they say use google...they must be a fraud.

So...you post your damning links...and I'll post mine. til then there is google...I tend not to use wiki as it's a little biased...people that use it tend to say...if it's not in wiki it doesn't exist...

I posted a link that actually argues in favour of an ionic-wind effect. Yes it was wikipedia, but it then goes on to post it's references:

^ Robinson, M. (1960, June 8). Movement of Air in the Electric Wind of the Corona Discharge. (AD0262830)

At least the first of these papers appeared in a peer reviewed scientific journal. One that would certainly not approve the statement that the earth's gravity is actually a magnetic field caused by it's rotation. We could test that of course, by submitting such a claim to the journal in question.

I like the ionic wind theory and effect. It is cool and interesting and I have learned something today. No thanks to you, other than by happen chance, I suspect.

El Guapo is right, this is probably a boring conversation for most people reading this, Tynan, edscoble, Sainsbury's Ed, horatio etc excepted. I am more than happy to move this over to a new thread, if you fancy carrying this on?

  • I have have asked for links, they say use google...they must be a fraud.

Not a fraud, rather that there is likely either no evidence or evidence of such poor quality for some of your claims that it even gives you pause for thought.

  • oh well we tried our best Joe. this one is serious

  • El Guapo is right, this is probably a boring conversation for most people reading this, Tynan, edscoble, Sainsbury's Ed, horatio etc excepted. I am more than happy to move this over to a new thread, if you fancy carrying this on?

no way! Im learning new words an shit, plus Horation admited he does nothing :D

  • I'm supposed to bow to tynans great wisdom? really? and you say I'm arrogant

    TYNAN.

  • Horation

    Whoa! Like... :D

  • I have created another thread for this debate, here. Use or ignore, as you wish.

  • I am Horation. Bow before me. And shit.

  • I don't really need a shit right now. Is it OK if I just fart?

  • No! I am Horation.

  • Horatiotron - Canadian, bearded, polo playing robot. Sadly lost out to Crow as a sidekick on MST3K.

  • Horatiotron

Woah x 2! Bar just got raised a little more... Gonna have to rethink my PotatoChop...

  • rather than implying I'm a right wing christian or one of stalins worst facsists.

I have not implied you are either, it was an example of a common false dichotomy not a description of yourself.

...and you are using a straw man argument with me...

    well done.

Not a straw man argument at all, you have just misunderstood what it is I wrote.

The only reason it's boring is because it's not an intelligent debate. If you want to seriously discuss and debate the topic go for it, I would love to listen.

  • Wingedangel,

If lack of interest apart from Mashton and Tynan is stopping you posting up any sort of actual links then I'd like to make it known I've been following this thread from the beginning just waiting for you to post some links.

Please go ahead safe in the knowledge that someone cares.

    Kind regards,

    NurseHolliday

  • TYNAN.

That's unfair Elguapo : ( That was a publicity shot for when I was campaigning to be the master of the universe, the lighting makes my head look big.

  • (Just punning, BTW. ;) )

  • good grief

I suppose I did rather belittle the tone of the debate with my opening salvo. Oh well, them's the breaks.

We do seem to getting back toward a rational interchange of postulates and refutations though, wouldn't you agree?

  • [highlight right click search with google]

  • I concur

  • Bob Park knows the score...

In 1996, the experiments of a Russian scientist were jeered at by the physics world. Writing in the journal Physica C, Dr Yevgeny Podkletnov claimed that a spinning, superconducting disc lost some of its weight. And, in an unpublished paper on the weak gravitation shielding properties of a superconductor, he argued that such a disc lost as much as 2% of its weight.

However, most scientists believe that such anti-gravity research is fundamentally flawed. It goes against what we know about the physical Universe and is therefore impossible, they say.

"One can only conclude that at the higher levels of these organisations there are people who don't have a very sound grounding in fundamental physics.

"You can invest a little money in far-out projects if they have some chance of success - it's called Pascal's Wager. In this case, most scientists would say there is zero chance of success."

Nonetheless, this view will not stop anti-gravity devices from continuing to be a popular feature of science fiction and the inspiration for countless fixed-gear websites. (link)

You didn't imply either..? oh...no ..of course not, that must be me being an impassioned though ultimately stupid and unreasoning fool. That must be the case as I dared to question the almighty tynan...? wtf?

No, I didn't misunderstand anything, I just won't be lectured by someone that shouts fraud at someone that believes something different to them.

As you have done since I mentioned that time travel is probably possible ...
