Re-painting in Birmingham

Well the frame came back, and the finish was ok. About as good as bournes, maybe a little worse. despite them saying they would mask threads off for us, they didn't and powdercoated everything, bb shell, head tube, fork threads. there was drip on the forks where it looked like too much paint had been used, took a few days longer than expected too, about a week. But well, for 20 quid you can't go wrong really can you? I'm gonna get a frame stripped and clearcoated next week, i'll probably go to city powdercoaters cos its cheaper.

what is it with the poor service from powdercoaters? i understand one-off frames aren't ever going to make them proper money, but for fuck's sake, show some initiative and charge twice as much for a proper job! fucking proles.

yeah, what really gets to me is that in a job where it would be so easy to take some pride in your work (it's painting), they don't...

You want a perfect finish then surely you'd be better paying someone in the bike trade rather than the guys on an industrial estate who don't give a shit? E.g. Lee Cooper might charge 95 quid, but you'll get a proper job.

Need to get a frame sand/bead blasted before I get it chromed. Does anyone know how much bournes/city charge for this?

city charge 20 to strip a frame and coat it so i guess just blasting would be cheaper? I'm looking to have the same done

just wanted it stripped and blasted, they took the piss. and did a shit job.

I ended up going to bournes instead. Frame was blasted and powder coated for £30. Decent enough job for the price.

They are slowly going up you know. I remember when it was £10

Inflation's a bitch.

Its going up faster than inflation, but then so is a lot of things. I think it was £10 in 2005-6

Strangely a lot of other things are getting cheaper/staying the same.
