also ga2g, i havent upgraded anything, i have bought the frame, and im just starting my project right now, got a shimano - golden arrows group set.

Get a hammer; smash your teeth out. Then a knife; lop your ears off. Shave what remains of your head. Two fingers on each hand is more than enough to operate a bicycle. Essentially you can still peddle with only a big toe so the other toes can go too. Now, and this might seem like a major sacrifice, your genitals are just weighing you down. Snip, snip, snip.
The point of all this is that individually the weight savings are small but collectively they add up. -

or just cut off your head.

Probably not the end of the world. Different people like different things.
Not my favourite style, but its nice for some.

But the point is that when the same level of weight pednadry is applied to the whole bike you end up riding a 13lb bike rather than a 25lb bike.
I'm Tynan on this one. I'm a weight weenie and a bit of a steel addict at the same time. So in order to keep things light I shave grams where I can.
My lugged steel fixie skidder weighs just under 8Kg.
My steel 29er weighs just under 8.5Kg.I make no appologies for my OCDs, as I love these bikes
In the fixie I have a Token square taper BB with titanium axle and tiramic bearings. Titanium is not as good a material for a BB as axle as steel TBH(but better than alu), and you need to be careful with titanium/ aluminium contact areas (seize easily). But the set-up has been great for me.

fixed.
The diameters are the same, hence the length is given, as n3lson has just said.
Slooooooooowwwwww. ;)
