  • ^thanks Ste5, you are a gentleman and a scholar.
I have been deliberating about a set of race wheels but I feel I should just get out there and race and not concern myself with gear too much (If i had the cash I would have Guy's race package in a flash though).

  • Yes, it all really depends on whether you want to ride your bike or talk about riding your bike.

I may have a pair of Mavic Ellipses for sale by the 3rd - and you're more than welcome to borrow them too, not exactly race wheels but I like them (and race on them). They'll be there anyway.

    Back in Black - I can't wait!! V excited, it's been a while.

    Oooofffff,
Can you race on the day?

bang on! have a great time on the tarmac

  • not exactly race wheels

Oops, I've done loads of races on mine; wish you'd told me before I made that mistake :-)

  • I've just finished putting mine together after riding the hire bikes for a bit, the pain from the seats urged me to put something together..

took it out for a quick quiet spin the other day to make sure the set up was comfy, pretty pleased with it. Really looking forward to giving it a proper run out

  • ^Puts my effort to shame.
    V. Nice

  • but you'll do yours more justice I don't doubt..

was supposed to be a 'cheap' build but then I got excitable with the wheels

  • Love the pista's
    Investment init

  • I've just finished putting mine together...

Looks great, always had a soft spot for white dolans, in a non-supremacist way mind you.
Interesting that you went for tubs, I'm sure you'll love the smoothness. That's a handsome chainset too.

After getting a lot of help from this thread, and the general murky depths of this track sub forum, I feel guilty for not posting my track bike.
Started off as a pinarello, but got there in the end. Thanks for all the advice, riding in circles is more addictive than I first thought.

  • very nice.

I'd never given tubs a try and I really wanted those wheels, had a little read around and given it's going to be track based 95% of the time punctures and the associated hassle should be few and far between. at least I hope so

  • That dolan is very smart. Bought some of those Pistas for my track bike and am still yet to ride them - been saving them until the new surface is ready at HH... at least it's not long to go now!

  • Out of interest what's the old Mercian Like on the track?

  • It's the only bike I've ridden on the track so don't have much to compare against... seems fine though, I'm nowhere near quick enough for bike material etc etc to make a difference.

Great fun hammering around on it though!

I'm with you there also! I like to think of it as something inspirational with the intent that one day it will make a difference.
