  • OK. I'm considering the inconsiderable (after the all you can eat fiasco).. A ST Johns thread.. 10 people max. No drop outs whatsoever.. Interest?.. balki, Clever pun, Mrs Brave (natch).. Dates?

I think 10 is the limit for a la carte,
    http://www.stjohnrestaurant.com/menus/ (an example)

14 for the feasting menu which has to be the suckling pig..
    http://www.stjohnrestaurant.com/feasting_menu/

If I'm free I'm in... best to get a list of interest and then book a day when there's space and go from there

Edit: I'd suggest a list of 10 with reserves so Balki can be replaced when he drops out again...
Book the private room then it's loads of space for us all... it wont matter if one or 2 drop, I'm sure we can rustle up a few people if needs be.

  • Oh my god.. I want that pig!!

I'll start a thread post bodeans and see if there's interest.. I think a table of 10 for A la carte is best though..

  • There are feasting menus styarting at £30 per head, which doesnt seem to bad based on the sample menu on the website.

  • so who is whipping out their corporate credit card
i do hope i won't be expected to pay for myself
that would just be wrong !

  • or maybe they'll accept my texaco points card

  • I had dinner at St John Bread and Wine on Commercial Street last night which was nice, different and very reasonable.

  • Bit of a cross over with the footy thread here.... Anyone interested in this?

  • I went to Umu yesterday... fantastic stuff. Had me some grade 6 Wagyu beef, which was just lovely. The sushi was the best I've had in the uk as well (I'm including Dinings in that as well)

was in cornwall a few weeks ago and went to fifteen. was actually suprised by a very very good meal. had the taster menu and the wines to go with each course. all were delicious. except my expresso was bitter and unpleasant, and the limoncello tasted like kitchen cleaner. other wise no complaints.

  • Off to Tom Aikens for lunch £49 for champagne tasting menu, coffee and petit fours... yes

  • Get some pics....

  • Not very glamarous in the scheme of things, but work are paying for lunch at Pearl (Jun Tanaka) this week. Looking forward to it.

  • I've heard good reports on 'Pearl', enjoy

  • £50 is a fair price for Tom Aikens'. Have a good one.

I went to Reinstoff on Tuesday night. The food was really good - basil and gin sorbet was delicious and the tuna with pomelo was inspired. But charging 7.50 for a 75cl bottle of water is bang out of order.
