This is slightly different as I know what the parts are but searching the internet doesn't seen to give me any information or results.
What does anyone know about FiR components from the early 90's and Alpina hubs?
Specifically 8 speed FiR downtube shifters, front and rear mechs and rims (FiR ES-80) and a Campagnolo style aero seatpost?
The Alpina hubs are Slim RS 16 on the front and the rear is and RR1.
Thank you!

RGF is just standard lugs / lugsets that could be purchased from framebuilders at the time. It stands for "Raccords Garette Frères".
I had many bikes with a RGF BB Shell and they were all sourced in France, which leads me to believe that your frame is simply a Cycles J.C.F. branded frame. A long closed local cycle shop, about 1h south of Paris
i.e. bike shops would get these off a larger distributor and stamp their brand on it.Cycles j.c.f.

purely on a hunch, i'd say that these fir bits might have come out of i.s.c.a. (ofmega / gippiemme / and i think even some of the cheaper campag stuff - maybe other brands too) .
i've only ever seen rims before -either fir has had bits made for them or been bought up and the branding been used for stuff made by someone else. check velobase for other italian manufacturers and you might see those bits under other bigger names.as i said, completely on a hunch - might be completely wrong. - some rare and very nice looking bits - it all looks high end and well made

Thanks for the reply - that's the route I'm going down at the moment. The seat pin looks exactly like a Campag one but the derailleur doesn't look like any that Campag have made so I'm wondering if they were either rebranding different parts from each manufacturer or if they were prototypes/samples and then for whatever reason didn't go into production.
Any details I can find are vague at best!

Hi Guys
Can anyone help me to identify this?
-
• #4439
That looks nice but I have no idea about it. The only clues are the cable stops which point to it being mid 90's (ish) onwards and the race number hanger which means it's probably quite high-end.

Reubens is a bicycle shop in Sijsele (Damme, near Bruges http://www.reubenssport.be/). My guess is, he had his frames built by Martens ("Martelly"). I have one and the lugs/cable stops look very similar.
My guess is yours is made from Columbus Max tubing as it looks like the downtube is ovalized near the bottom bracket.
Mine is at Frank Hoste (yes, the former green jersey winner in the Tour) for a repaint so I don't have better photos right now but I will post when it's back here.

Wow, thank you for such full answer!!
This frame is for sale and I am thinking to buy it. Was looking for a Max frame for a while. -

I’m not 100 % sure if it’s Max but it definitely has the same form. There have been other tubes that looked like these Max-tubing (for example: Koga Miyata used Max tubes for the high end Full Pro frames but “cheaper” but similar formed tubing for the lower end frames).

Anyone know what cranks these are? I think they are Campagnolo Athena from the 90s?

About to buy this wheelset for 75 squids in a bid to restore and sell.
I had a look through Velobase and I couldn't really get an answer as I don't have the wheels yet and I'm not really too familiar with any pista equpiment.36H Rear & 24H Front - Wolber Super Champion tubular rim + Tied & soldered spokes.

Any idea of the Hubs, Could be Record as that's what the seller states:

I have a San Marco seatpost with the same initials engraved on the back but I can offer no further enlightenment I'm afraid.

Well done, looks like a San Marco gran sport. The G and S. A couple are on the bay at the mo
-

That'll be it then.
The S always looked like a P to me so I was ever sure what the engraving was but G.S. for Gran Sport seems reasonable.

Hi all, I picked up an old Dawes last spring and recently got round to cleaning it up and getting it running but was wondering if any of you could help identify it?
Other than it being a Dawes, and apparently still with it's original paint, the only other markings are a frame number, 5 W 6847, stamped by the non drive side rear drop out, a sticker on the forks saying "55", and an almost completely rubbed off sticker where a tubing decal would normally be, see pictures below.
The front mech and downtube shifters seem to be match and are Simplex Prestige I think, whereas the rear mech has been swapped for a more modern Shimano one, presumably to accommodate the rather large range of the also seemingly newer 5 cog cassette.
Any ideas or info would be appreciated , to my eye I originally thought it was an old tourer, but on closer inspection I noticed a lack of mountings for racks, and that the seat stays are particularly slim, which now makes me think this was an audax bike or something similar as while not being lightweight is definitely not on the heavy side.
There doesn't seem to be much info on Dawes 55's but judging by the old fashioned headbadge I'm guessing this is a mid-70's era bike, anyway let me know what you think.
Cheers Kev.
