No thats what I thought, they came from Italy so don't know if the Euro brigade do it the opposite way round?
... Serious?

They are the Mark I version of Ergo levers, likely to be 8 speed but might be 9 speed (I think Campag went to 9 speed before they moved to the Mark II version).
Usually the model is emblazoned on the front, my hunch is these are Athena.

• #329
MY vote is for Athena too. Its much more likely to be 8spd with this design than 9spd because 9 speed was only introduced later. I didnt think they made 9spd ergos of this design but i might be wrong.

Ok so double checked and the right lever is indexed (8 clicks) and the left must be the non indexed one. So 8 speed. sorted. Thanks for the info
-
• #331
Wouldn't 8 clicks mean 9-speed?
Start in sprocket no. 1
Click no. 1 moves you to sprocket no. 2
...And so on until ...
click no. 8 moves you to sprocket no. 9 -

8 clicks would mean it's 9 speed :)

Fail again. There are 7 clicks, 8 positions. So definitely 8 speed! I'm being a bt retarded today.

Hey, a guy supposedly sold me a NY fah chain on ebay, what i received is certainly not an NY fah chain.
It has black links about 9mm across, black nylon kryptonite sleeve with yellow "kryptonite" on it, and black and orange shackle that says "kryptonite" and "ART 4" on it.
Any one have any idea what lock this is? Thanks.

It appears you have been sold a cheap Kryptonite rip-off. There appears to be no Kryptonite chains that are black, and all the coverings are cloth/fabric based, and NOT nylon sleeves.
If you bought it for security, then the Locks That Work thread would have advised against it. And if you bought from Ebay to save money, Evans and CycleSurgery do price-matching to internet shop prices. You have mystified me in this purchase.

Dats what the forums for! 10secs of searching, a cup of tea reading a couple of threads and clicking links. Then a wise, informed purchase at the end of it all. Or did i miss something?

To be fair if the listing said NY Fah chain how was Mr Libre meant to know?
If you paid with Paypal you should be able to get your money back as it's not as described.

ART is a security standard in the Netherlands.
"Test standards that rate the effective security of bicycle locks are provided by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thatcham and Sold Secure in the United Kingdom, ART in the Netherlands, SSF in Sweden, and VDS in Germany. "

Ever thought about uipdating Wikipaedia with some of your lock info GA2G??

I'm off to carve a bit of wood into the shape of a fiddle, write "Stradivarius" on it.....then sell it on Ebay. Then I'll buy a flat on the King's Road, Chealsea. It's got to work.
Nobody would get any money back, as it is a Stradivarius if I write that name on it. It just will not be the "original" Strad. I can see myself making millions!!!

Prime Heretic, I did, with the Single Speed bikes (OTPs) and Courier Bags, but certain individuals who feel that THEY are the real Wiki, kept deleting them, so I didn't bother any further.
A shame really, as this forum holds at least the most comprehensive list of Courier Bag manufacturers anywhere.

Wikipedia is fucked. I've added facts to that motherfucker and some idiot comes along in less than 30 seconds to smite them.

I got the lock because it was £30 for a £100 NY Fah chain. fucking scammer.

Caveat emptor.
Sorry that doesn't help very much. Go through the ebay dispute process I guess, but then you already know that.
-
• #347
it's a fucking bind because i just went through the dispute process with something else (damaged frame) and i just bought something and now paypal has said that someone hacked into my account. jesus wept.

Can you post up a pic of it please? Sounds like he's used a Krypto disc lock and fabric sleeve on some other chain to pass it off as a NY Fah. To my knowledge they've never used balck coloured chains - they've always been gold/silvery in colour.
