No...M.Steel, the brand name....dave Yates etc.

Yes - the Dave Yates, M Steel Cycles and Joe Waugh frames have the number stamped on the bottom bracket also on the steerer tube - numbers starting with MS for M Steel Cycles. The forks I have which most likely came from the frame mentioned are numbered MS998 - from about 1984 ish. I was reading a review in Cycling Weekly magazine from April 1986, of a Joe Waugh bicycle and it was frame number MS1701. So M Steel (Dave Yates) had built 1700 frames by the beginning of 1986.

The sprocket on the left is a regular 26t Campag Exa Drive sprocket.
The one on the right is also 26t and has the same spline pattern, so presumably also Exa Drive, but is quite different: apart from the dimpled surface, it doesn't have cut-aways, a timing mark ("c" in a lozenge) and is only marked (on the reverse) "26", rather than "26A, B or C"; however, on the reverse it is marked A, B, C etc above each spline.
It appears to be genuine Campag, but I can't figure out what group it's from: I've trawled through the spare parts catalogues but can't find one similar; off-road perhaps?

I'd really like to know who the frame builder was for my frame. The pictures are from the for sale thread when I bought it on here a couple of years ago. Its long over due a nice new repspray. I'd love to get it back to its former glory/original colours, its had a pretty heavy coat of black paint somewhere along the line.
So details are previous owner (Jetski) was convinced it was columbus steel, 26.4 seatpost. 'B' stamped on bottom bracket, and serial '800115' stamped on left dropout.
The lugs are pretty unique, I trawled through classic lightweight but haven't seen anything similar. I just need a bit of a clue to get me going any help greatly appreciated.
(ignore the cougar forks in the photo, they are unoriginal obvs)

^ It looks the same, but it has the same spline pattern as my Exa Drive sprockets and fits my ED hubs, which pre-ED don't AFAIK...
BRAINWAVE: someone's filed down a spline to fit ED!

^is yours stamped steel (CS-8S) or light alloy? if light alloy then record CS-8AL ('91-'93)

Steel. I'm all ED, so I'll make a medallion out of it.
EDIT
Neither of those codes appear. -

I have just purchased a Doug Empson racing bike equipped with Shimano 105 everything. I have googled the name and a gent by that name is a member of King's Lynn Cycling Club, which is hopefully not a coincidence but I cannot discover any info on the bike. Anyone know of this frame builder?

might be shimano rsx, as rsx had that turquoise colour. The shape of the colour insert on the platform is very similar to 600
mmm bit of a teaser this one, my first thought was Shimano 600 they I noticed they have campag-style toeclips with slotty length adjustment rather than 3-point fixing - I then did a quick google images search which threw up these

According to the ebay listing these are Olimpic which are Franco/Facist Spanish offering a la Zeus -

Thanks Rik, I think you have nailed it regarding those odd pedals.
They were off a Vitus, BTW. -

What about this stem?
The rest of the bike has GB Hiduminium bits everywhere, but there are no markings on this. I got the bike from the original owner and his dad got it for him in 1947... It's an early dayton elite, 531 lugged, Bayliss Wiley hubs etc......some nice bits.
I got it for these, who I can't identify the maker of either!
Any ideas? I've trawled through the names I know, like coloral, Reg, simplex, but can't find any the same. There are no markings on them either

stratlite
i have one too, didn't know what it was but randomly searched old names from my head. Pretty nice instead of all the GB Hiduminium that seems to be default for top end restorations.
mild?
