  • Am I right in thinking they rebadged Yamaguchi frames earlier in the 90s or had frames made by them?

    Apparently so: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaki0911/3455383343/in/faves-michaelrolph/

    Cheers oz also.

  • I've been trying to find that GT in between watching TV for the last hour. Can't find out what it is.

  • Ha, much appreciated.

  • Can anyone tell me what groupset this seatpost is from?

I've been told it's maybe Chorus but I'm not sure. From doing a bit of googling I'm guessing it could be Victory/Triomphe.

  • anyone know what bars these are? (the bullhorns). maybe just nitto rb021 from a weird angle?

Today I missed out on this claimed 1971 Giro d´Italia winning bike of Gösta Pettersson. Sold in Sweden today. Gösta rode a Monark labelled Masi. It looks like a Monark labelled Masi Gran Criterium to me and in a great state to.... and looks very similar to my 1972 Masi gran criterium. Chain rings brings De Rosa to mind (the Pettersson brothers also presumably rode these bikes) but Masis have a similar shape on lugs. There could be a few Monark labelled Masis out there since the Pettersson brothers rode a lot of bikes during their time in Italy. Could be the one though??? Some old photos from the 1971 Giro could be the decider. Any thoughts or knowledge?

Not sure what the owner tried to measure here but bottom bracket apparently stamped 61(cm).

  • ^^ Syntace Stratos .. Not that high a drop, and curved backward from stem position.. Very comfortable, I have a set..

  • Hi, does anyone have any ideas on what this frame could be? It was sold as 80's Italian, that's pretty much all I know. Paganini has been suggested but that doesn't mean a great deal to me.
    Thanks

http://www.bike24.net/p2290.html? They're not cheap.. And in Germany.. I got 'm of off here, including a syntace and a ritchey stem.. Really good deal, really like m.. Dunno how fit goes and how they measure them.. I think I got the 20mm drop ones, and they look similar to the ones on the photograph.. Good luck!

  • Been gifted my uncles old Claud Butler, parents seem to think its from around 1958, struggling to pin the model down, and its original specs,,

Want to restore it with period parts, I know the derailer is a modern cheap replacement,,

  • Just curious about this rossin , is anyone have seen a Pursuit rossin with a mono seat stay like that ?

It could be lots of things, but it does look a lot like a couple of Cougars I had. Cougar was Terry Dolan, and at that time he built a large number of the frames for UK pros - that were then badged up.

Paganini was, I think, a name that Plum in Belgium put on frames that were built for them in Italy. More recently a UK sprayer has used the name, but there's no connection with the originals. The top-line Paganinis had an engraved head tube, and so are easy to spot.

I own both Triomphe and Chorus models, and can't tell the difference. It's possible they were renamed at some point and could be the same part.

The (C) Record seatpost has a more slender clamp, IIRC (I've also owned this before). Much of a muchness really.

Cheers, that's what I thought from looking on Google images at each type but good to hear it from the horses mouth so to speak.

Thanks for the info, I'll try and find some pics. Cheers

  • Hi can anyone tell me which campagnolo hub this is?
The picture is messed up but I'm willing to sell it but don't know what to ask for it..

    Thanks in advance

suggest you try uploading the pic again. it hasn't worked.

  • The swallow saddle and pump pegs on the cross bar - looks like 1958 is a pretty accurate estimate - have you been on http://homepage.ntlworld.com/nkilgariff/ - An excellent source of info for Vintage Claud's - I think there's a page on how to read your frame number which should help narrow things down.
Closest match I could see on there is the 1961 Coureur....

Nicely Hammerited 30's road frame with number stamped on the seatpost lug.
Curious stepped seatstays, lozenge shaped mudguard eyes, Back to the future for an integrated headset.
Previous owner rattlecanned the forks in red - nice.

Any idea who made this reasonably lightweight vintage piece???

Not sure if this is a rossin due to the laser-esque bb but looks slightly similar:
