3ttt 'Campione del Monde' bars aren't particularly rare or expensive are they? I've got some but they have a 1-2mm deep gouge halfway down the drops on one side, goes about halfway around the circumference of the bar. Part of me thinks this could lead to sudden breakage if pulling on the drops hard. Could chop them into bullhorns if they're both dangerous and cheap/common.

for me just the thought they might break is enough reason to replace them. or chop off the damaged bit. campione del mondos are not very expensive, relatively easy to find and not that special shape-wise so you could even replace them with another brand

Being a beater bike means I'm completely unwilling to spend money on it. If it was a nicer bike I'd replace them, but I'm just gonna chop 'em. The only reason I ask is because I've never seen them before so was wondering if they were anything rare (the gouge could be TIGed up, for example).

Scricho
Hi all, new to the scene and have purchase a titanium bike recently. It's fairly old circa early 90's I think. It is a wilier, or so the decals suggest. Can anyone help me identify the model or know of where I can find more about it. It is loaded with campag 8 speed, campag seat post brakes etc. It has some old campag pedal which are huge and have some kind of ratchet system in them. It also has some f.i.r rims on it. Help please? Also what's it worth? -

Let's have a look...

Walked into a bike shop today to buy some tubes Well they had some kind of jumble sale going on and top of the pile was a track frame complete with seat, seatpin (early campag) cranks, stem&bars(cinelli) the frame was covered with Guerciotti stickers It felt rather heavy when I picked it up and had a columbus sticker on it.
I bought it
It was cheeeeep!
I smuggled it in past the missus a nd its now hidden in the shed I haven't had time to photograph it.
What Id like to know is Is it Guerciotti?
Its got a double crown fork Nervex lugged seat tube but prugnat lugs at the head tube
I can't find anything similar on the internet
Has anyone any ideas?
I'll post some pics tomorrow -

Anyone know the origins of this Belgian track bike?
Repainted somewhere in the early 90's
Italian threaded BB shell and campa dropouts. Tubing unknown but probably columbus

First of all, it's a nice frame, and a nice paint job.
I doubt very much if it was made by the shop - likely to be bought in and sprayed. Overall, a track frame was pretty standard in those days, but the top eyes would make me suspect Gios Torino as the builder, in Italy.

Collected this tonight, me being a stranger to old bikes and bikes in general i'd like some info on the vintage of the bike. I am aware of who Eddy Merckx is and what he's acheived etc. I plan on giving it the 'tlc' (words from previous owner) that it needs i.e. cables, tyres, tubes etc and getting on the road with it! I think the model is 'Tour De France'
Cheers

Might be an optical illusion or the photo but those forks look bent?
-
• #1096
Hmm. I think you'll find that's been crashed at some point because the forks look fucked.
How much did you pay for it? I think it might be one of the 'budget' Merckxs...
-
• #1097
Falcon made Merckx over here under licence. Heavy, geometry is jokes. That said my mate ben rode one of those frames curryering for 18months and treated it like shit and he only just killed it.
Cheap parts, def been crashed. Hope it was free/very cheap! -
• #1098
Ayee, freecycle it was. Thanks for the quick replies! I have a new pair of forks so hopefully I can have a budget beater for a few quid...

Bangin' !
Was worried you'd been had for .2secs
Keep the gears, it looks kinda neat as a road bike. New fork, lower the stem and get some proper brake levers and job done.
Mini mudguards look the bomb. -

"...my mate ben rode one of those frames ***curryering ***for 18months and treated it like shit and he only just killed it."
!Please excuse my ignorance, but is "curryering" some-thing to do with Indian/Asian catering?
Hi can anyone put a make and model in this bike I bought yesterday?
Also what size forks would suite is as these are hideousness
