Found something to fill those nasty clearances.

The only thing I don't like about my SL01 is that there's nowhere to mount a conventional rear light. Makes riding later in the day a bit of a hassle...

Looking promising, but needs either white or yellow bar-tape.
I'd go for white to match the graphics on the seat stays and down tube. Finding the right shade of yellow may prove more problematic...

I can only really ride skinny tyres in the summer. not much in the way of darkness up here then. So not a problem for me ;)

I have some yellow tape already, which matches really well, which the saddle does'nt unfortunately.
You're right though. White seems to work.

Hmmm... Competitive Cyclist has the 2009 SLX01 in my size for 999$. That seems cheap, no?
Cant believe you missed them. I've practicaly spamming this forum with them.
OEM Kevlar reinforced carbon clinchers, 48mm deep.
Bladded spokes (2.2mm front, 2.6mm rear), with internal alu nipples + washers.
Tune mig70 mag180 hubs.
Laced 20 radial front and 24 triplet rear.

SF has spammed* the entire freaking forum with tales of those wheels - have you really not seen them before?!
(*only kidding SF)

I must be blind- to the glasses thread!
I'd buy those Corima's (if they are still on eBay), but I keep vacillating about buying second hand carbon.

They've gone.

You snooze, you lose.
Reckon SF got these (or similar)?
-

^At that price they are pretty much "consumables", if you see what I mean.

I think but the time I'm finished, people will be more bored of yellow BMC's ;)
Mounting tight fitting tyres onto carbon clinchers, with latex inners was stressful. But the final wheelset is mad light.

Same eBayshop has 42mm carbon rims with what looks like aluminium braking surface for £50/pair. Tempting...

SF- do you mind going for a ride wearing a rucksack full of bricks to bring you up to my weight, just to see how the wheels perform?

I weighed myself at 84Kg today. So I might not need that many bricks.
With 16 tangental driveside spokes and 48mm rims. They should be responsive and vertically stiff. The down side with only having 8 NDS spokes is lack of resultant bracing angle. So the wheel may not be laterally stiff. But thats just tech BS.
Anyway I'll be riding down bendy mountain roads at silly speeds in the summer. If I dont post a review, they probably were'nt that tough.

Ah, you might want to pack 4 negative bricks* in that case.
*One brick=1kg for the sake of this example
I look forward to the ride report.

In my defence I've been 79Kg for about a decade. I know this because own a few bike parts rated for up to 80 Kg (none on that bike though), as well as a snowboard rated up to 80Kg (in terms of snow flotation).
The extra 5Kg is an intentional gain, that I have worked on over the winter. Hopefully it wont feck my hill climbing too much.

Re: Squeaky seatpost.
I have read that this is at least partly due to grime and stuff getting into the seatpost - seat tube interface. Coupled with the fact that the clamping is at the base of the post not the middle. Which allows some movement. I therefore decided to attack this problem before it had a chance to develope.
I took a sheet of clear Ipad screen protector and covered the entire carbon section of the post, that would be inserted into the seat tube. I then coated this with a thin, even, layer of carbon assembly paste. I also covered the wedge with anti-seaze paste. The resulting fit was very snug, so it feels like a good fix.
I should thank Pfiko for putting me onto the IPad protector idea. Cheers!

I meant the fork (and I meant EC90 SLX). Its not a priority though.
Definitly wont be replacing my wheels.
