  • I got my biggest mallet out and hit the shite out of it.
Also the rear triangle bolts are rounded. Fucking thing.

  • Get some Plus Gas in there. Magic solution to seized stuff.

    What rear bolts? Hinge?

  • silver please

  • The hinge bolts are meant to be drilled out when replacing anyway

  • Hinge bolts can be drilled so no sweat there!

  • You need a big metal hammer and a punch rather than an Allen key. The force required is uncomfortable.

  • This do?

  • Why is my T5 chain tensioner like this:

... when it's supposed to be like this(?):

Admittedly I've taken it apart, so I must've assembled it wrong. Before the tension was already low, but now it's basically unusable. I can't figure out what I did wrong, since the spring can only be mounted in one way. Is it worn out maybe? I fitted it in the correct slots in both parts.

  • It's a common problem for first time Bromtpon owners (speaking from experience)

Watch this, it should be able to fix the correct position for the rear arm:

  • Brilliantly explicit video

  • I have the punch, will get a bigger hammer.

  • I've watched the whole video, but I don't think it is related to my problem.

See how without the chain on the lower jockey wheel in my first picture, my tensioner arm is in the 4 o'clock position, whereas it should be in the 11 o'clock position like the second picture. There is no tension on the tensioner arm when I put the chain on the lower jockey wheel.

  • I'm not familiar with that paritcular design, but presumably you need to take it apart, and - with the spring engaged -twist it backwards past the stop as you reassemble it, so it has some tension in it.

  • Have PM’d you!

  • its old af, so possible some wear, but unlikely on the spring. the tension should be pushing the long arm / idler wheel clockwise, maybe you have got the spring caught or over tightened the main screw?

  • Checked the spring multiple times. It's in the slots. The arm can swing freely. There is just no tension on it. Pretty dumbfounded to be honest.

I think the spring is bent in its (counter) rotation direction. I don't really see another option. The coils are kinda wonkey as well.

  • I can send you over a new spring if you reckon that might do the trick?

  • I'm in the Netherlands so I wouldn't bother. Thank you kindly though!

Mine looks like this. What do you think?

I think the bent pieces should be more opposite of each other, like this:

  • aye should be "looking" at each other!

  • I may have the opportunity to get a brompton via cycle solutions, but does anyone know if and when there will be stock?

  • thanks lol

  • I've got a bunch of spares if anyone wants them. Just come down and pay whatever you want. Enclosed pics.

Other thing I've got is a Brompton Diagnostic kit for the electric stuff. If anyone is interested, give me a PM.
