What the world needs is obviously a carbon Brompton main frame. I'm sure I've seen a carbon Brompton stem somewhere, so the next logical stem would be the frame.

Nope!

Anyone looking at selling their brompton any time in the next month? Cheers!

The toptube frame hinge on my mate’s Brompton has got quite stiff, it’s an older model. Is it easy enough to drill the pin out, clean up and replace?
-

Spray it with some GT85 and give it a good workout. It's probably rust and dirt. Wipe it clean and then oil it.
IF that doesn't work only then get the hinge kit. No comment on the replacement process.

You need quite a specific(expensive) tool and it's probably worth just paying your local brompton dealer to do it. Get it done sooner rather than later though, seized pivots left too long are a nightmare to get out

Blasting with spray lube / working thoroughly back and forth then dripping wet lube /working will sort 9/10 of these.

Contemplating selling my 2018 (I think) raw S6L (on about 500 miles) with SON dynamo and upgraded B&M lights but want corona tax price to part with it.

Wet lube and elbow grease!

• #9039
Great, we’ll try the above, thanks!

'Corona - everybody buying a bike so not to use public transport' innit. Prices, as you know, have shot up during this time. There will always be 'enterprising' individuals.
If an authorised Brompton dealer could sell for more, they probably would.

Import from where?
Noodly as all feck though? A FOAF's a mechanic who was presented with a Ti frame to build up; as the client then made weird choices like deep carbon rims with Marathon+ (!), it ended up being >9kg and quite unpleasant to ride.
