  • Doesn't that knacker the chainring though?

  • Nah not really, can normally get 3/4 chains on a ring

Just change at 100%, not past 100%

  • Perfect, will put this on my order list for an well needed overhaul.

  • On the subject of replacing chain and sprockets, what is the average mileage for a replacement for a chain?

  • if your thinking of doing an SJS order by chance I have a box going to @cake soon so you can avoid postage...

  • So hard to gauge..

do you clean it ? how much do you weigh? how do you ride? what gearing? terrain? etc etc etc!

1000-2000 miles for 100% maybe a guide! not helpful...

  • It would be rude not to order stuff then ;)

The brompton hinge thing for a start....

  • This is something I have read, and makes some sense to me, brompton goes through chains quicker as they are lower to the ground so can pick up more debris.

  • Yup and the sprockets and smaller, most are commuters so tough miles etc

  • Simple Rohloff orange black edition done!

  • saw a nice brompton on the ride in this morning, grey main frame and forks, yellow rear triangle, liked the colour scheme...
made me realise I haven't ridden mine for a while and I need to get the upgrades going on it.

  • Brompton survived the trip, spent most of Friday riding around the smoke on it... Felt great, back in two weeks... I was gonna upgrade to the new levers/shifters but not so sure now, think I'll stick to just black risers and seat post for now... New front wheel would be nice as the spokes have started popping on mine and I do want a black one... What's the damage on that?

  • how many speeds/gears is your brompton?

  • standard £55,
    Jtek sealed hub / CR18 £70
Jtek sealed hub / Brmpton rim £90
Brompton sealed hub / rim £110.

  • I've got an M6R...

@R.hobbs I should just buy one, if I get one built I'll pay twice as much...

  • ah! if it was 2 speed I had spare shifters/cables you could've had for a bag of pork scratchings

  • I love pork scratchings...

  • Will these bars be okay on an older Brompton?

I'm also gonna need a retail assist, I'm in Europe ATM but I've got an Australian bank/PayPal account... Which of my lufuguss buddies is gonna help me out?

  • what do you need? you pay me via PayPal and I place order for you?

  • That would be ace, I'm just deliberating now...

  • I need new rack stays, I may as well buy a whole new black rack with stays as it'll only be £18 more than buying the stays on their own... I was gonna get my stock silver rack powder coated, but why bother?

  • I have some unused Brompton crabon bars you can have for nowt.
    I'm in SE Londres.

  • Oh, man, that is so generous... I'll take you up on that!

    If they're risers!!

  • See the attached
Maybe not as risey as you'd like.....
