Can I machine the current ones to fit the bearings in to?
-
• #5929
Are all brompton reartriangles the same?
-
• #5930
Can I buy the bushings or do I have to buy the rear complete?
-
• #5931
you have lost me..
you would like to machine what?
yes all current rear triangles are the same, except titanium
hinge kit? you either buy spindle and screws, or full kit. -
• #5932
Wondering if you can machine the current headset and front hub to fit an off the shelf sealed bearing.
-
• #5933
I doubt it. Seems a pointless task, sealed bearing headset is £20, and hub £54/wheel £70+,
Machining costs etc would deem the project uneconomic
-
• #5934
Machining costs are my time, and was waiting till the replacements are needed.
Bit of speculation as I wondered if you or anyone knew of someone that had done it.
-
• #5935
I could ship you an old hub and headset cups for testing?
-
• #5936
£70 is for the whole wheel with sealed hub?
-
• #5937
Cr18 rim for £70, doublewall, eyeletted rrp £35, or £73 on. Brompton one, £20, no eyelet but doublewall.
Also do black, and pairs!

Can I buy the bushings or do I have to buy the rear complete?
Complete, you'll need new bolt, threadlocker, spindle, and washer, oh and a way to remove the washer carefully, and reamed the new washer etc.
-
• #5943
by washer do you mean bushing?
screw a tap into the old bushing, then twat it out from the off side, tap in new one with smaller metal hammer.
-
• #5944
twat it out
Technical term

quote, brompton tech a few years ago!
-
• #5946
Mine told to use self-extracting screw to remove bushing, failing that, tap it out carefully with a flat headed screwdriver.

Bike fix, bike ride!
Also, “touring spec” for stock - grips are obviously going to be an Ergon for the customer, but didn’t want to trim just for stock

Was going to see if there was a bushing I could use, if it wasn't an odd size.

• #5949
Yes, as well as the fuckloads being the answer to how many are there. :)
