  • Cycle to work is structured as a slight disincentive to changing jobs, which is why employers are happy to sign up for it. You get a cheap bike and you’re slightly less likely to jump ship for a while, so they’re happy too.

  • yes exactly. It's a shame they don't allow you to pay off the remaining months as a one-off last payment off the gross salary.

  • ah I got it not. What happens is that I'll pay for the remainder off my net (£416) and then I'll continue to use it as usual until the end of the hire period (next May) when Cyclescheme will offer me the option to keep extend the hire for a small fee and then, at the end of that, I'll keep it.

  • Mine is doing the same thing. Cycle shop said it’s my cable. Mine is stuck in the lowest gear. Very annoying but less annoying than the high which it gets stuck in sometimes.

  • Is there a cable issue?

  • I think so but there is also an issue with the tensioner/derailleur as the flat headed screw keeps on undoing itself but if I tighten it then it can’t do its job. It’s either too tight or on it’s way to being too slack to the point of falling out.

  • Which flat headed screw?

  • Bottom left.

  • Am having issues wth that too, but have not looked it to the reason.

  • No idea with the brommy, have had issues with a few bikes that have passed through my hands.

  • Odd! The newer style one uses a different fitting, let me see if they are cross compatible and that I have a spare!

  • 6.96kg, not quite finished, customers build just had a new hinge.

  • Bling!! So once it done it will be around 7.2?

  • No grips no chain no cables no pedals no pads no tensioner what’s the point in the weight. seriously...?

  • Grips, pedals, chain, rear derailleur/shifter mech thingy are gonna add more than 200g

  • Will be auction, but IMO I prefer the nine elms version as the fade is more visable:

  • So more close to 8kg?

  • Customers build completely, I just replaced the rear hinge for him, he’s aiming for 7.5kg

  • Because it’s not mine or my work, it’s a customers, I can’t guarrantee I’ll see it again so I thought it was worth a pic / weight! - I can easily work out what it will be, I have lists of part weights coming out my ears... 😂

  • Ti parts chainset and little bits, bb, hinge, rear sprocket etc.

H+h carbon post, some carbon bars and those super light brake levers (15-25£ online)

Velocity rims, hubSmith rear hub, Phil wood front.

To fork / triangle - rear I question whether Brompton made for a few reasons.

    Stupid light SI carbon saddle

Stock 2015 frame, m type stem

    • I can see so many places to still lose weight on this build, but it’s just a fun project for the guy.

  • Grips, pedals - I think tpw removables, chain, no dr / shifter as SS, tensioner will obviously be stupid light.

    7.5kg is his target

  • Thinking to swap my s-stem to a standard p-stem from Brompton or the ti-one on eBay. Should there be any reason aside from cost that I shouldn’t get one?

  • Drops about 60mm from stock s stem, do it if you can hack it!
