  • Heh. Yeah, you can have my priceless Ti arse end to practice on.

It should be repairable in all seriousness, but to my mind, a sharply bent ti tube is just asking for trouble. I’ll grab a pic of it tomorrow and let me noes what you think.

  • This is why they stopped selling ezwheels and made the newer ones sacrificial

  • Yeah, the original cheap plastic wheels were sacrificial too, the new ones are as well but much better. It’s a pity, I really like ezwheels and the bike rolls really well with 4 of them on. You just can’t smash it around.

  • What’s the word on this?

  • On what sorry? On phone can’t track what you referring to!

  • Is the son xs dynamo hub/Wheelbuild, lighter than the son dynamo on sale?
    #bromptonweightsavings

  • Yes, sorry forgot to weigh it! I’ll enail myself for Monday! You will beat the queue, once im into this Rohloff build I’ll be dead to the world except that build!

  • Like a purple metalic black edition?

  • So yesterday on Brompton IG's feed, there looks like there will be a new CHPT3 2.0 coming soon, few upgrades parts and more leaning towards the racing bike than the casual everyday commuter.

  • No problem at all.

  • Brompton
    towards the racing bike

I like mad weight-weenie racing Brommies as much as the next forumite, but the appeal is largely because the bike itself isn't exactly a racehorse (cf. the BWC).

  • Would I have to buy 2 or how would that work?

  • @maynardeames if I was considering a Nine Streets edition with some spec changes, what's the best way to get a quote - PM you on here, or email SJS?

  • You buy a Brompton purple, then we build the bike with. Black edition parts and take the silver stuff into stock. The only thing that can’t is the headset as it’s marked from removable. Also welcome to make any changes you wish for, so that last build had a jtek super light front wheel for £45 instead of £90 as the silver wheel at £45 went back to stock.

  • Email ryan@sjscycles.com, I’ll pick it up Monday!

  • That's a bloody fast race

  • Can I just buy another headset?

When you say marked you mean the removed part is no good to go back into stock?

  • Absolutely - I'd be off the back in seconds! - but isn't the appeal that of people going fast despite riding comedy foldy bikes?

  • I think it’s the option to have either a sensible comfortable bike or a faster rolling bike with the collobation with CHPT3 is like Mercedes having AMG as their sports division.

Especially with the stuff I’ve seen with this new model it’s definitely going to be more bespoke and faster rolling too. (In theory)

  • Yes of course,

All of the stock silver parts go into stock, the headset cannot due to marking. So you would not have the cost of the silver part taken off the black part.

For example, you want black mudguards, cranks, mudguards, straight swap as no price difference. £10 to pay extra as that’s the price difference on the cranks!

For a small number of parts no labour cost, on a build like the one I posted, full black edition and extremities swap, labour of £50, hinge kit at £20 and then just the part difference cost. Went from about £1070 to £1260 or so. - that’s with a super light wheel so extra £35 than if just stock silver for stock black

  • Look forward to it, did you see the s2l we removed the dynamo from and added some kojaks/superlight wheel?

  • Sending you a dm.

  • Cleaned and oiled (with crabon bits)
