Work well for me and don't interfere with the fold.
This, very comfty too.

I think drivers do perceive you to be more passable. I do find I take the primary position more on the Brompton.
I can imagine that's also true but I'm talking about other cyclists trying to ride past me as I'm filtering on the left hand side of traffic.

small folder = must be a dickhead, which is their general assumption (given the number of bromptoner dicking about in Bloomsbury is a sight to behold).
-
• #455
think I'll have to do what Clever Pun does and take solace in making them whimper with shame as you pass them at speed on the open road.

Brompton L6; new seatpost (extended too), cleaned it up, putting all the cable back, add new tensioner (it was 6 speeds, but going to run it 3 speeds), new chain, rear mudguard were knackered so removed.
Brompton stuff are amazingly cheap under trade at £35 for the chain tensioner, seat clamp, seatpost, chain and inner tube.
waiting for brakes, brompfication's hinge set and easy wheel (front hinge is AWOL;

Quick question, I'm leaving for Copenhagen tomorrow evening, would very much like to get the bike ready by tomorrow, do anyone in London sell a front hinge for the Brompton?
I know where to get the very long reach brakes, but not the hinge.
-
• #462
Ed, are you getting Brompton callipers or just long drop ones? You'll need Brompton specific ones as I'm sure you'll know the cable is clamped differently!
Do you need a hinge or just the clamp? Any Brompton dealer (other than Evans it seems) should have one.
-
• #463
Look like we do, I need to double check our inventory as it might need to be ordered in.
I do know the cable is clamped differently (upside down and right sided), but I'm confident I can work my way round that problem.
It's hard to find a set, and the cheapest one I found is £31.50 for the rear only, and there's a Tektro pair that can be brought for £40 (R556).

Rohloff;

A foldable bike that is too heavy to carry is almost as inconvenient as a non-foldable bike.
Don't see the point of the Rohloff on a Brompton. -
• #466
1,750g (according to rough estimate on the internet with cable, shift the whole nine yard).
SA 3 speeds - a smug over 1kg.
Indeed quite heavy and probably unnecessary, mind you adding titanium parts would've make it a fair weight.
-
• #467
That's why I went for a 2 speed. I borrowed a 6 speed and the weight of the SA hub was out of all proportion to its usefulness

Are there any alternatives to Powergrips that will go on Brompton pedals (albeit with some drilling & tapping), at least the right pedal?
Want something fabric that will squish down but also easily adjustable, I seem to remember Powergrips are set at one length without a tool to adjust them.

Clefty managed to get restraps on hers but I can't remember what pedals she used. it's somewhere back up the thread (in last 10 pages or so).

You can adjust power grips.

On the tweed run I was talking to a fine fellow who had a raw lacquer frame. He had managed to source some delightful looking wing nuts(?) that are used to tighten the frame when unfolded.
I can't remember the name of the place he got them from, I remember they were about £40 and the name was a clever use of bromptonsomething but that's it. (maybe boutique)
Does anyone know of it?my googling is proving fruitless

you owe me a pint, that was a tough one to find...

you beauty, thanks & repped

You sure it's tough? just type 'brompton modification' and there's your badger.
