  • At your size I wouldn’t bother.

Black Brompton telescopic with a carbon seatpost in the top might save some grams, not sure on diameter can check tomorrow.

  • Not too bad, never needed to do it myself, been given a demo and nothing different to a standard hub

  • The topper is 26.6, sjs sell a few or go Thomson - will be lighter than carbon, and get a slick clamp, the Brompton ones are functional but not “light”

  • Anyon know if there is somewhere you can get the front light mount for the front fork? I have a cateye 1200 and only need the mount than the whole light kit.

  • Yes I have some spare!

  • Project Matching bicycles took a little curve ball for me and the wife. Still, an inherited Brompton M3? from mother-in-law (yellow) which I've just finished a complete overhaul of (with some help from the amazing Brompton Junction), and @nyoro's timely selling of the almost the exact Brompton I was looking for means we're there, ish.
Just a saddle change for the Yellow one to come, and maybe a fitting of the new M-type bars, and a hub service at some point.

  • Yes mate! How many dollars you want for it?

  • Those of you with 58t/60t chainrings.. Which do you use? I have a 2017 Brompton with 54t in the Netherlands, and I think an extra couple or coupel of couple would be good.

  • I got mine from bikegang for about £30 odd, no complaints

  • Just cover postage etc, gimme a message

  • Will do when I get home from work, you’re not based in London Town?

  • Somerset I’m afraid! Not even coming down for the BWC this year either!

  • maybe a fitting of the new M-type bars

Watch out for that. Flare from old to new is different. Cableling will need an overhaul to the correct length too.
When all this was first introduced, Brompton didn't update suppliers and people wanted to do it. Caused a fucking havoc for a while.

  • Right faff to swap bars with cable lengths etc

  • Does she have an old M bar there? The new one would give a significantly lower position, is that what shes after?

  • Anyone about for BWC? I am planning to mount an attack on persuading the OH to attend... our daughter loves being on her Brompton so...

Just need somewhere suitable to stay that doesn’t cost the earth and isn’t a shit tip!

  • She just wants less flex at handlebar. It is, tbf, very flexy.

  • Mine is not pimped...(yet)

  • Really you need a new stem/bars, then it will be the same height and you won’t need to change cables etc

  • Carbon bars?

  • Will heckle, daughter will scream, OH will drink gin

  • Brought one of these to replace my two speed shifter, have seen them fitted to bromptons online. But was told it wouldn’t fit by lbs, because of the way the cable connects at the derailleur end. Looked online for some info on how others had fitted it, but couldn’t find anything.
Am I missing something, extra piece, some sort of thingyamibob or other, as I’d like to fit this, not a massive fan of the Brompton shifter and would like something smaller on there.
Anyone fitted it and can let me know how you did it?

  • That looks loads bulkier than the Brompton 2 speed shifter

  • Doable. I've done a couple of those and another with a Fox dropper lever. You just need to clamp the cable in with some sort of barrel. I had some old Sturmey Archer barrel clamp I used.
Cable feeds in from 'derailleur' side and up to the shifter. Just gotta find a method to clamp it. Add/release tension. Sorted.
Others soldered brass to the end.
Other solutions will look like this.
