  • What about without the bike?

  • Had my bushings replaced at LBS for £35 the other day. Much better than the £55 + parts quoted by Condor.

  • Ooh, yeah, can see that happening easily. Curse these practical bikes!

  • And WTH about these unadjustable pre-2013 levers? Do you have to trash them to get them off?

  • The gears on my 2 speed need adjusting, as its currently a singlespeed. Does anyone know of a decent YouTube video that explains how to do it yourself?

  • Are you sure it's not just crud and crap in the mechanism? Good old scrub then lashings of WD40. Have to do it on the odd occasion.

  • Could also be the outer edge of the jockey wheels worn down, meaning the metal flaps have nothing to push against. Happened to me also! Swapped them around until I wasn't so skint and could buy a pair.

  • If not, there is an official Brompton vid on YouTube, but it's a bit out of focus so difficult to see.

    Good luck!

  • Normally this for me. Toothbrush helps.

  • Think Brompton recommend 100psi, you’ll be surprised by how much of the bromptons stiffness when ridden relies on the pressure in the tyres.

  • Cool, will give it a shot. At least the tyres take no time to pump up!

  • You'll get used to the twitchy handling after a bit, but they're just not suited to thrashing about. I'm still careful when indicating and riding one-handed. Just relax, enjoy it and keep the tyres pumped up.

  • Anyone have a telescopic seatpost to sellz.

    I need.

    Knees are killing me....

  • Also. Anyone test ridden the electric Brommie yet?

  • yes, its great, I have paid deposit

  • Whats the RRP 2,500?

  • yeah something like that

  • Are you daring to suggest I have a dirty bike?

You’re not confusing me with @cornelius_blackfoot are you?

  • I was the same, until I got my head around to stop thinking that it was a replacement for one of my road bikes. If you need to carry stuff when you are riding the Brom, I recommend the luggage block and one of the bags they offer ( I have a C Bag, with S bars).
10kg of stuff from Sainos shelves improves the front-end handling significantly.

I have just a piddly Brompton Ortlieb Mini O bag and when loaded I was surprised at the difference this made to the handling.

  • Also ridden one, really good fun and especially good with old knees that gives you an aid when starting off at the lights.

  • I might have one, will check tomorrow and get back to you?

I still find it disturbing when I turn the handlebars and the bag stays where it is. Quite weird.

C Bag, S bars here too.

  • At least use gt85 not wd. GT leaves teflon, wd leaves sticky....

  • How do you identify a brompton bag and its age?

I think it is an older S bag as the zips are covered with flaps, the bag is black with a brompton triangle logo on the front flap, silver trim around the flap and dark silver/grey insided. The bag has a frame and two pockets at the rear with flaps.
