Wanna sell your rear mudguard?
-
• #3554
Yes - can you take the pair so they’re not taking up space?
-
• #3555
Have realised not. The derailleur cable anchorage set is for the two speed shifter, isn’t it?
-
• #3556
Theoretically - I’m typing all this a little speculatively whilst on the way to Cambridge for my gandma’s 95th birthday ‘party’ I’ll pick up when I’m back this evening - if you can check it just pops out of the wire frame and is interchangeable then we’re on to a winner - will be able to meet tomorrow morning if you can wait that long?

It’s different on the two speed, originally the cable clamp at the shifter, the new one however is the other way round.
Need to double check at work to clarify thought.
Also, you can use a dropper button as a 2 speed shifters. #themoreyouknow

As long it’s 22.2mm all the way to the clamp rather than 22.2mm at the grip area as the Brompton stem is very wide to the point that’s it awkward trying to slide the bar through.

But for three speed I don’t need the cable kit?
-
• #3560
You do need a new cable to replace the shifter anyway.

Mine has been tricky to get the seat down for a while, and today is pretty much impossible. If I look I can see that there is a plastic shim in the tube, which is moving around, whereas in the past I don't think it has.
Anything I can do DIY to mend it? Or does it have to go to LBS?
-
• #3562
LBS, a new sleeve, glue and reamer may be needed.

Thank you. I feared as much.
As it happens I think my most local bike shop at the moment is "Brompton Junction" in Amsterdam. It is doing sterling service out here. I did the brake replacement a week ago though.. I really like the new ones, which attempt to stop you, as opposed to the old ones which just gave you something to do while you wondered where you would end up

Anyone got the latest brake caliper and levers going?
-
• #3565
Any good dealers in London for Brompton?
-
• #3566
AIUI Brompton's price fixing means you are unlikely to get any bargains between one dealer and the next. Albeit that's not the question you appear to be asking.
My experience of having bought one from Compton Cycles in Catford would lead me to definitely recommend them. -

However you may get some good deal on last year model.
-
• #3568
Yes. Last year's model is a good hit IME, throughout bike buying generally.
-
• #3569
Last year model are slightly more reliable with the older shifter (as we have been getting some 3 speed shifters that no longer functions).
Also 2018 model now have a one piece brakes as oppose to cartridge, which is a mite annoying but they claim new pads offer less wear on rims.

What’s the problem with the new three speed shifter? I wanted to upgrade but sounds like you’d suggest the old plastic one is better.
-
• #3571
Just that it does get sticky and will not engaged intermittently, easily remedied by going through the warranty process.

Also during the B.B. recall, there’s an awful lots of Brompton with a missing inner chainring bolt, end up depleting our stock of Brompton chainring bolt due to this.
-
• #3573
All of them or some?
-
• #3574
Took my old 5 speed rack version from 1993 or so to get its seat shims replaced and Brompton Junction in Ams have given me a brand new loan bike. This is a good sales technique

I had this too. I spotted it after I'd been using the bike for about a month, no idea if it came out of the factory like it.
That would be awesome, I should just be able to swap it over right?
