That’s really generous. Thank you. I’ll be in touch if I need to take up the offer.

Nearest ones are Hassocks or Three Bridges.

What's an acceptable amount of play in the rear triangle hinge? 2-3mm? Or none whatsoever?
-
• #3430
None I'd imagine. It's going to eat itself if there's any play at all I'd have thought.

Buy this travel case, small bike aficionados

Can I use a saddle with oval rails? Do I need a different clamp?
-
• #3433
Depends what clamp you are using at the moment.
If you're using Bromptons pentaclip clamp it should be fine.
-
• #3434
hmmm using the pentaclip clamp but it doesn't look like it fits to me, seems to be squishing the rail.

Specing up the Brompton before works deadline of tomorrow (to order)
Does anyone know the max saddle height of the std post (BB to top of saddle)?
Any thoughts on the Kojak vs Marathon racer?
Thanks
Jon

Standard tyres are great, fast enough and good puncture resistance. Don't see much point in Kojak unless you are racing...

I used Kojaks for the Brompton world championship, enjoyed how (relatively) fast they rolled so kept them on for the commute. Punctured on the first commute.
Still haven't had a puncture with Marathons in about 1800mi.

Interesting... never punctured a Kojak! Found them bulletproof!

Its time to pick up another Brompton.
Selling my last one was one of the bigger mistake I've made.....
Last one was S1E; im definitely going to S again, but whats everyones experience across the gear ranges? i like the simplicity of single speed but perhaps think 2 or 3 would be good so i can let Mrs Dick use it. I think 6 is overkill.
Thoughts?

I like my 3spd
But I use 2 of the gears most. I got 3spd so the missus could use it. 6spd like you say felt a bit much but it doesn't weigh or cost much more.

If anyone has any experience of fitting oval/carbon railed saddle to a Brompton I would be much obliged. :)

tried this pre-Nocturne.
Not happening with a Pentaclip - need one of the aftermarket posts with a different rail clamp

At the moment, due to budget and now only having one mechanic in the workshop, our waiting time is now 4 weeks for the next service.

Recommend 3 speed and 44t chainring, defintely a good range.

Do you guys accept Halfords C2W vouchers?
You’re pretty much across the road from me and I bet you actually have stock.....
-
• #3447
I’d definitely recommend changing the stock gearing, on the 2 speed you have a low gear that isn’t low enough and a high gear that is too high.
-
• #3448
I would recommend 2spd and 58t chainring.
-
• #3449
I like 2spd stock gearing as it goes

Glad we've reached a consensus.
You are welcome to borrow mine for a week if you want to give it a shot (it's SS though)..
