Not sure about the pedal holder bit though.
I have Ti Spares mini MTB pedals (which I don't think they make any more) on MKS mounts on my brom.
When I remove them and fold the bike, they slip over the brake levers, and stay there quite securely (I've never had one drop off) -

Watch out for those ones - the MKS Cube isn't SPD-compatible. The US-S is, though.

Cheers. Somewhat pricier than I was hoping for, think I'll just stick to swapping pedals when I need to for the moment.

Will have to see more when it launches properly but got to say I'm disappointed...
Was hoping for integrated battery and a mid drivetrain motor, not what looks like just some hub motors on a normal Brompton and a bolted on battery.

Surely you weren't expecting engineering excellence?

• #3058
Yep we need to see more. But they seem to go out of their way to not show the front hub - hope it isn't huge. I read a while ago that they planned to keep the battery in the front luggage but that battery looked massive.

I had hoped...
Clearly in vain.

Just discovered a bit of an issue whilst sorting out my Brompton for BWC this weekend, the rear hinge is pretty loose with the bolt on the chainring side almost touching the chainring.
Will have to phone around tomorrow to see how quickly I can get a repair done, any suggestions for places other than bikefix? Preferably Eustony/central/north kind of area.Plan B is one from the Brompton docks but without signing up to it I can't tell whether any of these are available. Can anyone check whether there are bikes available/are bikes generally available from these, preferably at Kings Cross (or Walthamstow/Whittington). @andyp I think you use it if you don't mind helping.
Cheers all

Usually take between 45 minutes to an hour for a hinge replacement, but it sound like your is bad to the point that the rear triangle and possibly the frame may need replacing.

I am excite with the credit card at the ready

Hopefully it won't be too bad as I can't think it's done many miles like that. I've barely ridden it in the past year (hence not noticing the problem) so the only use has been 5 or 10 miles every two or three months when someone has borrowed it.
The real issue is that I need it sorted in the next few days.

A long way from where you are but if you can get to Thames Ditton to Cyclelink their mechanic Harry is ex Brompton employee and top draw for this sorta work.
Whilst at Brompton it was up to him to train mechanics from stores and international distributors -

Right, my girlfriend has been threatening to buy an adult scooter so she can get from the train station to the nursery quicker to get our daughter in the evenings. I'm thinking a brompton would be infinitely cooler. EBay looks a bit of a minefield and prices vary massively. What should I look out for with a second hand Brompton and what ballpark would I need to pay for a decent second hand one?

Ah another forumenger doing the BWC! Keep an eye out for a tall guy on a blue brompton, likely be wearing my black Carnac 'aero' pisspot helmet...
I've not ridden the Brompton for ages and have been meaning to wash it, strip mudguards etc off it and stick Kojaks on for the race. Also bought a new chain and sprockets but don't think I can be arsed to dick about fitting them...
Good luck getting the hinge replaced :)

Cheers for the suggestions, Bikefix reckon they can turn it round in a day so I'll have them give it a service too.
It's all proving to be a bit of a ballache this year is the BWC with trying to register for that and the Ride London plus having to get guest passes, etc. Need to dig out an outfit at some point to go with the claret brompton. The main aim is to beat my brother, I'm thinking of trailing him all of the way round and then sprinting past at the end.

Guest passes? I've not really put any effort into doing anything about this one. My plan was just to turn up, possibly a couple of mates turning up to watch... Haven't got an outfit actually, bibshorts with regular shorts over the top, some kind of shirt and jacket? Worth sticking road pedals on or stick with SPDs?

The guest passes don't seem strictly necessary but there are three people coming to watch two of us so it's a bit awkward if only 2 can get into the Brompton section (although I haven't actually done anything about it).
I'll be going with touring SPDs but still need to find a jacket in my wardrobe.

I've just fitted a new 2017 two-speed shifter, cable & dogtooth assembly on my S2L. It looks nice but I'm having a right old time setting up the gears – the difficulty is shifting to the lower gear. Unscrewing the barrel adjuster on the shifter isn't getting any closer.
The gear cable seems properly tight where it meets the rear cable connector (diagram below), tension screws on chain pusher are correct and the bolt that connects the chain pusher to dogtooth assembly isn't over-tightened.
Any other adjustments I can make?

At the lever end you can move the plate that the cable anchors to to various different slots - might help?

Those Brompton docks have been around for a good few years, surprising they're still having troubles.
I while ago I remember seeing detachable clipless pedals with a pedal holder that clipped onto the Brompton somewhere for when it was folded.
Does such a thing still exist and was there an SPD version?
