Neither of them fuck with the fold. I had a similar pair with little barends and they were fine, but found that I never used them and they pushed my hands too far inboard.
Got ones similar to the 2nd set and they've been fine. MUCH more comfortable than the standard grips.

Oof. Doesn't look good!
Can I ask a favour, does anyone in London have a Brompton hard/soft case I can borrow for a long weekend in June?

I have one of these that you're welcome to borrow https://www.vincita.co.th/collections/folding-bike/products/b132b-soft-transport-bag-for-brompton-bike
It's OK, not particularly padded so you may want to look at padding out with bubble wrap and clothes (it's big enough that you can pack quite a bit around it, I used this plus hand luggage for a two week work trip to NY) but it does the job.

That would be ace! I'm off to Berlin for Rad Race Fixed 42 from 16-19 June and as my other half is coming we're taking my race bike and the Brompton. The bikes are going by van not flying so this bag would be amazing. I'll send you a private message.

Meant to post this Wednesday...
Orange Brommie, carbon chainring, Hammersmith gyratory, just after 8am. Anyone on here?
I was on a black S6.

I just bought a 2012-ish M3L for my mum but it needs some love. Still has mostly original parts on it, need to inspect properly over the weekend, but looks quite ok considering it was fairly cheap.
Want to replace the stock shifter with a sturdy SA thumb thingie, but looking at the SA website there seems to be a couple types. (SLS30, SLS3X and SLC30) Have no idea what type I need for the 3 speed hub?

Anyone have any experience with swapping out the two speed Brompton shifter with the suntour sr fork lock out trigger?
Seems they have different pull rates, and aren't compatible but people have fitted and used it to their bromptons, so wondering what the work around would be.On another note swapped out original flat bars for some renthal bars which give me a more comfy upright position, swapped the heavy Brompton saddle for a con or supercorsa light, which feels great but needs a bit of fettling to get the nose angle just right, and swapped over the frame clamps to the magnetic NOV ones, which make me very happy despite the fact that the handles slide every so often, hoping they can be tightened up.
Very happy with the bike and can attest that tyres need to be at 100psi otherwise it gets very squirrely and nervous..

I've got a hard case as well, if you prefer. Although to be honest, if it's going in a van, it doesn't need much protection, the brompton will probably be the sturdiest one in there when folded.

Thanks very much, I think soft case will be perfect. It's only going in a case to protect all the fancy track bikes from knocks anyway. (They will also be in cases).

How do they slide? Just googled Nov magnetic Brompton clamps and I don't understand...

Defintely no need to protect Brompton at all, just leave it folded, no packing at all.
It's the actual bike you need to worry about,in fact, not bothering with even a soft case allow you ample money to put toward protecting the more expensive bike.

All the bikes in the van will be in bike bags! 😊

Is there anything special or non-standard about the brake and gear cable inners and outers? I can see replacements sets for a tenner for one inner and outer per brake etc for each specific models, but is it just standard stuff pre-cut to the right length?
Thinking I can just buy/dig out some lengths of regular brake and (Shimano?) gear cable and make sure I cut the outers to the same length as the old stuff.
-

AIUI it's nothing particularly special, but to work well with the fold etc the cable length needs to be within a couple of mm of the optimum original. I think the brake outer is pretty standard - not sure whether if you're using compressionless you need to tweak the length at all?

Brompton people.
I replaced the brompton bb recently with a more sturdy shimano one but the chainring now fouls the rear triangle when fully folded. It is by a mm or two but still fouling......
Any ideas? Its the newer chainset.

My colleague and other half, he's so happy to be in the Guardian. I'm just sad they didn't make it #parrotsatpollingstations
I think I have the second one in my shed that you can have for free
