a square taper BB
Of all the components to find fault with on the G Line, this ain't it

assuming they want some sort of commonality with the existing models/ranges means you can swap components between the new line and the old lines.
I might pop into covent garden in the next week or two to see what the fuss is about. -

I have been using this universal fitting for a while and it’s worked ok, not the most stable and the bands stretch over time and therefore require periodic tightening:

“Foldies” are popular here, and Brompton are both fashionable and subject to extensive modifications- there are quite a few shops stuffed with CNC bling. I picked up a little plastic bracket from the local one today ($28 for the golf club fans) and it’s much more elegant, more secure and also puts the bottle usefully higher up.

When I switched my Brompton to Hollowtech (105 5800) and was surprised to find the weight of the components was pretty much identical.
Square taper BBs are still shit but weight isn't the reason why.

@JAH-tim thanks.
@Arvy. no, was rushed on time and just wanted to see what the bike is like IRL. Basically first impress is big, very big and weighty....but impression was it just feel like a normal bike - unfortunately/fortunately it folds and the issue of this occurs when you tried to carry it around.
Was discussing this with the sales team and this is probably Brompton playing it safe as there will be a few snags on the way before they will make one with carbon forks and a ti rear triangle.

playing it safe as there will be a few snags on the way
This really irks me, they are asking customers to a) pay full price and b) beta test.
Amey will be along shortly to use ruder words than me but if it is product development tell those purchasing and price accordingly. At best this is dishonest, at worst, arrogant. -

i was actually going to go in lunch for a test ride in condor !

tbf G line looks much more refined for a first gen product than their first gen electric brompton was .. for which i had placed the order paying full price and when they actually brought it in shops for test rides etc cancelled with refund my order in a matter of seconds.
to put it mildly it is/was victorian engineering

I was thinking about this again recently, and saw that MKS do two types of EZY removables, original EZY's that require the yellow circlip
https://www.mkspedal.com/?q=en/product/term/4
And their new superior ones that don't and work by twisting and pushing down to lock/unlock the removable pedal
https://www.mkspedal.com/?q=en/product/term/3
The two types are not compatible, and the urban compact I have fitted to my brompton isn't available in the superior style, so will be living without the yellow safety circle for a while yet..

So keeping your current Brompton then ;)

Wait for the G line pedals, they looks much nicer and bigger platform.

How did it compare to your kenetic?

It’s a hundred or so grams of difference, which isn’t too far removed from changing a steel post to titanium. Won’t change the handling much given its location on the bike, but if you’re dropping weight on a fancy expensive build, it’s an easy place to do it.

Also sets expectations so they can claim some kind of unique innovation when they release a 13kg version.

I found a telescopic post in on of my parts bind. What should I be asking for on here?
And is anyone after one?

"noone thought it even possible, but we have done it, we have made a folding bike with 20 inch wheels. Remember this day because it all changes from now."
£2,500 gravel bike with a square taper BB and crankset. Guess they didn’t want to pay for hollowtech, or wanted the basic model to be maximally heavier than the lighter weight version.
