Are Ti posts susceptible to slipping?
Have nipped bolt up a bit, but it's still slipping.
Stock post wouldn't budge! -

think it needs contact urbans to fit the colour scheme

Agreed! I’d have gone for a silver Rohloff too, customers bike = customers choices!

Has anyone experienced this issue with an electric Brompton motor

What’s the issue?
Is the left brake pad rubbing?
-
• #11659
I can only see a partial video but it looks like the motor is powering up, making noise, but not engaging and turning the wheel over. I've had this on various motors from a few different brands, it was always a warranty issue but I've often thought about what the cause could be. Something to do with the hall effect sensors not synching I'd guess but I've never had a solid answer.
Is it in warranty period still?

Hard to tell from that video. Is it powering up while riding and then cuts out again before powering up and cutting out in a cycle?
I've had that happen and Brompton replaced the battery, controller and motor.
The bike looks pretty dirty, I assume you've checked the mechanical connections.

is that a shimano dynamo? how can someone have enough £££ for rohloff but not for Son
-
• #11662
Lol, the Shimano is original when the bike was purchased

I have a Shimano dynamo that’s coming on for ten years old. Been hammered through every winter of those years, has been located under a massive and often overloaded Wald rack on the front of my Puch and had been on the front end of a couple different cargo bikes which were similarly (ab)used. It’s never had any maintenance done on it, I haven’t even as much as touched the cones and it’s still going strong.
Would a Son be able to do that?

no idea but i am bike tart. and son's look better

Officially back to one Brompton, return back my T-line.
Lesson Learnt: Never buy first generation stuff…

Haha word!

Problems aside would it have been a much better bike than a P line?
-
• #11668
Certain aspect of the P line would have worked better, but the fundamental issue for both bikes is the derailleur and hows when folded the chain tension isn’t working properly.

Damn, I'm nearly three years into electric ownership and I'm not feeling that sure about the reliability and possibilities for end user maintenance.
Now they have 2 dodgy lines of bikes and fancy store overheads I hope it's not going to be a problem if there's a recession.

Having said that I have really enjoyed the electric when it's working. Partly why I'm so pissed off when it has little problems. Sometimes the battery just has a bad day, run it through a charge cycle and it's fine again but it undermines confidence.

As a bike it is amazing, the bike feels fast and nibble and well balanced especially when you compared to the rest of the range of Brompton.
The part when it fails and why I returned it was due to the fact when it folds. All the standard features you accommodate to with a normal Brompton over the years you don't have.
Side note is that the bike is amazing when it is working, only when you get the seatpost and saddle rail slippage correct then it is amazing.
Personally I don't think this bike is worth 4k, especially with compared to the P line version, it is not worth twice as much as doesn't perform twice a better.
I would recommend you to try it and experience it, but would avoid buying this version right now until they resolve these issues with version 2 if possible.

P line electric…

How much lighter is this going to be I wonder, and will they use the same battery/controller/motor combination?
-
• #11674
Thanks for the details. I think I read your earlier comments about the fold which didn't sound like a deal breaker to me but it seems like you've dodged a bullet.
I'm interested to see what a p line electric will weigh/cost.

• #11675
Bet cost is 4K, I have seen a proto with a steel fork; there was chatter of a carbon fork but who knows. Same saving as p line over c line potentially; same electric system
Sorry ignore me
