  • ................... or we could return to peckham? but we hate peckham now, right?
    .

  • Summertime - Billy Stewart
Get Up - Screamin' Tony Baxter
Funky Stuff - Kool n the Gang
Treat Her Like A Lady - Temptations

That Billy Stewart record was awesome!

  • Bright times BBQ 4x7" all dayer at the C+H?

As much as I love the C&H their sound system is complete crap.

  • what about bar storey?

Bar Story would be great for a one off and even more if we can get the owner to chill out on the hosing down the customers action.

    Oh yeah, my set was:

Funkhouse Express - Music makes you move.
Freddy Terrell & The Soul Expedition Band - Soul know how to make music
    The Citations - TRUTH
    Ground Hog - Bumpin.

  • As much as I love the C&H their sound system is complete crap.

It's shit, cos it's a home speaker system in a pub. We've got access to some big old JBL studio monitors if we want, and an amp + slave amp somewhere in the back of a cupboard...

if it's arranged and i can get that day off i'll bring my decks

    just so you know

  • i don't have many 7's but i'm going to try to get down there next thursday

  • Lovely, lets try and have a chat with the Mango people and then plan what to do next.

  • for the 4th of july?

  • Who knows? Current options are

4th July - C&H with our own sound
4th July - Mango (they're World Cup free i think) if we ask them nicely, it'll be quieter WC time.
4th July - somewhere else - Ladywell Tavern maybe, combined with a bit of L*wn B*wls? Please suggest others
    Another Sunday

If we do a Sunday, do we want to get more and more people to play x4 7s, or longer times for everyone or a bit of both?

I like the x4 thing, as lots more people have played than we've had at BT before and that makes it betterer...

I'm totally cool with shorter sets, but might be nice if it was more like 6 records each and not just 7"s. I'll run out of records fast if we can only play 7's.

  • That makes perfect sense Aram.

Alas on the weekend of the 4th, G and I will be on our way back from Rotterdam, so won't be around for BT until later on in the evening... schpeaking, you know, in comedy Dutcchh akshents if this hasn't been beaten out of us by that time...

  • I won't be around for the 4th July.
    but here's my twopence worth:
4 x 7 works. and brings more people in to play records that are their own "bright times".

i like this. 12's and album cuts would be good too. I would like this a lot more.

i think 4 - 6 tracks (no extended 12 minute remixes), more people and if we run out of people then the possibility of more than one go at the tables for everyone involved.
i.e. you can play two sets of 4 records. depending on time available.

I'm in total agreement with all of the above, although it should be either 4 tracks or 6 tracks not 4 to 6, just avoids any unhappiness which would be sad times :(

  • i agree.
i was leaving the decision to be made by the elders of this group.

  • i think it should be 6 tracks max, but less if you want per DJ..... i think it will be a bit nicer to play 6, instead of having to change over just when you're getting going..... but obviously if someone comes along and only has 2 or 3 records thay want to play, then thats fine.

i think each of the more regular open decks DJ's would each bring a fair supply of tunes, so would get a couple of turn's each..... but the 6 track deal would enable the people who dont have loads of records to get to play their choices too.

12's should def be allowed.... as long as it's not some weird 15 minute long calipso extravaganza...

we should def do it on the 4th...... we should def not do it at the C&H.

  • right, rob, as you are Claudia's favourite. you should accost her on thursday night and beg her to let us have it at the landing on the 4th.

this can be your bday gift.

  • Are we offering up the Body of Hoops by way of bribery? There must be some Incan Sacrificial Rite she could perform?

I don't think Claudia has much influence tbh, but seeing Rob flayed alive and then the flesh eaten off his bones by eagles does have its appeal.

I'm trying to think of what tune would be relevant to soundtrack it, but I'm just stuck on Howard Jones today.

  • the vulture - labi siffre?

  • Cortez the Killer by Neil Young?

  • oh happy day - edwin hawkins?

  • Duran Duran.... Hungry Like The Wolf.

But what about that killer Calipso extravaganza techno remix by Dimitri from Paris I was saving just for you rob? I'm CRushed!

  • i'm sure it is a killer.....

  • so who is actually coming out on thurs?
