the route still needs to be planned, mike you coming?
not sure if padding is needed, just need to sort my bike, and also brakes are for losers! downhill takeout is my plan
-
• #28
I reckon padding is a good thing. If you're worried about hipster credentials then the bugle will make your cock look bigger!

• #29
What does this
have to do with my cock?

no that would be a push and it won't happen
-
• #33
obviously if you like having a red raw ball sack, then you have no problem riding in sweaty skinny jeans on a warm day.
as for the brake... if you have one, what is the harm in putting it on?
i was hoping for a ride, not a fixie skiddder comp.and it is a fact, riding with a brake is quicker, easier on the knees and on the tyres.

• #34
Definitely in if I can get off work.

and it is a fact, riding with a brake is quicker, easier on the knees and on the tyres.
that is true, but I can't mount one and don't have one here so won't be doing that but fair point
-
• #36
You mound brakes? hmm...
-
• #37
Seb... you are not the one i am worried about!
-
• #38
Anyone got a clamp on brake I can borrow? Or buy for that matter.
-
• #39
ok, well i'm making a rule that any one without a brake goes down the hill first, no fiddy (RIP) style take outs
-
• #40
i was gonna agree there, on a long ride comfort is paramount. when i do long rides i where a thermal and cycling jacket as well as cycle-shorts under some sports shorts, so much more comfortable as it wicks away your sweat.

i'm not too sure about wearing thermals in the summer
-
• #43
it works well, there not thick winder thermals, its a helly hason base layer, really thin but really keeps in the warmth, i used to ride in t-shirts and the base layer was a lot more comfortable and you didn't feel the wind so much

Graeme m. cool, I gotta see this!

would anyone have any great protest if i rode this geared? Luke, my housemate has expressed interest in the ride, he doesn't have his own bike, but has been putting the miles in on my road fixed when i havent been using it. I don't really want to do the ride on my carlsberg bike, Its geared too low and not at all set up for anything other than going to the pub.
-
• #47
i think if it means more riders then its fine, just don't start leading with a huge pace
-
• #48
do you thing I can join on my fixed gear bike?
-
• #49
does anyone have a gps they can bring i have my iphone but have a fear of it dying on the journey
cheers

Anyone got a 20t Sprocket I could borrow for the day? Just in case!
Come on matt, stop being silly. Slower without a brake, probably not if you know how to ride your bike and especially not on open long roads. Also you stated earlier you were gonna ride at 12-15 miles an hour, fairly difficult to go much slower than this surely?Skinny jeans are just fine if uv got some padded underneath, its only 60 miles , its not exactly a marathon is it?
